What did YOU do today?

I rolled paint on the bottom of the one half of the drawer system deck. It should be cured enough to flip it and paint the other side. I'll need to run some machine screws through the tee nuts to make sure paint doesn't clog up the threads, which would be most unfortunate.

Monday when I was working on my Ford 2000 tractor I got to the point where it would run with some ether (I know bad idea, I used it responsibly) but then stopped so I knew it ran out of diesel to the injectors which pretty much meant the petcock was plugged... thought about pulling it and cleaning it but found one on Tuesday for like $12 which arrived today... now it ran for like a minute on diesel alone until the return check valve probably pressure locked the injection pump which I expected... that pump was GROSS, you shouldn't have to clean 1/32" of film off the surface of everything in the pump...

So close! Maybe tomorrow it'll go after I free up the check valve on the return line, it's easy to do...

I plugged in the belt sander without realizing the lock switch was engaged and the sander flew 25 ft down the driveway at which point it unplugged from the extension cord and stopped. Fortunately it wasn't a cordless sander because it would have probably ended up in someones garage down the street.

I got to rebuild part of a rocker panel (inner and outer) plus the dog leg by the back tire on my buddy Paul’s GMC because I can weld and fabricate yesterday. Pain in the rear. Plus the repair section he got didn’t match his vehicle (it was supposed to) so I had to heavily modify it to get it close. Fun times. Back on my Ranger project today…

There was a sudden flurry of fairly reasonable prices on junk for the last week or two, not as good as Covid, but pretty good.

I got a clean heavy duty 2000# axle with idler hubs, that also included two 2 inch 5 x 4.5 to 5x5 spacers, with springs and shackles for $100. Remember, I just got four 5 x 5 bullet hole wheels, 15 x 7. I’m thinking of them for the converter dolly.

I picked up the white halogen lights for $10. I’m thinking of them for pointing out to the sides lights on top of The Road Ranger. The two pair of blue glow halogens were $7 each from Harbor freight on closeout. You can’t have enough lights. I’m thinking of a single or maybe a pair of them underneath the back bumper on the F250. I can’t see anything when I’m backing up in that school bus.

And I picked up two very clean (inside) 10 x 2.5 brake drum assemblies for $25, about 50% left in the pads. I have all the brakes I need for The Road Ranger and the step trailer, I just have to install them.

I’m still looking for some 7 inch brake assemblies or brake axles to put under the ‘Raith Casket Kitchen, and with the rest of those 22 foot long 4 x 6 aluminum beams I got a couple years ago, I want to build a 20 or 21 foot quad- or tri-axle car trailer. There’s still four or five axles and brakes available on craigslist/marketplace, just haven’t had the time to run them all down.

Spent some time trying to start the tractor after fixing what I "thought" would be the problem to no avail... There's very little fuel making it to the injector lines, might pull those lines next and clear them out, in a few minutes I might do the dumb thing I didn't think of and loosen the lines at the pump instead of the injectors...

Going to put up some OSB board on a new garage wall today, and with a little luck will finish that job and be able to get paid. THEN, I plan to install a couple of bulletin boards in the dealership.

Found the wife's 2018 mazda3 had a flat so we went to discount to replace all 4. They have been on it since we got it in 20 and are at the point to replace so might as well.

Only bad thing is they are an oddball size, 245/40/18 so the discount dude said they didnt have those in our region but he could do 255/40/18 since that size is way more common. That worked because the tires were way cheaper too.

Then ate breakfast and now waiting for the call to pick the car up.

If you ever need a super dependable car thats is comfortable snd good gas mileage, the mazda3 amd mazda6 are great choices. And foscan works in them too

Went to harbour freight for some cheap tarps, keep some of the weather out of the new chicken area. started the 8N hood tonight, coat of eastwood rust encapsulator tonight & hit it with some color in the morning. if that stuff sticks to metal as good as it does my fingers it should work well.

(Yesterday) i inflated my air matress to find and repair the leak. Upon spraying it with soapy water, found several places bubbling. 😪 bummer. I liked that mattress. Still looks like new. I haven't abused it. Always had double tent floor under it and normally a thick moving blanket also. (The moving blanket is to protect the tent floor from Livvy's claws) The leaks I found were in the top side at points where the top attaches to inner baffles. Anyway. Not worth fixing. Only got 2 or 3 years of use out of it.
