What did YOU do today?

Forgot to add...

The new Milwaukee m18 chain is a straight up ripper. I like it. I used some 5amh batteries that I had... they worked ok. I went through 3 full ones to cut the tree up. The second one when cutting up the bigger stuff and the final cut on the stump went into thermal shutdown.

I think one of the 8amh Forged batteries would be the right battery in this beast.

I does take some getting use to the instant power these provide. No winding up the saw to cut... just pull the trigger and let it rip.

I've given up on the 2 legged deer. All they've ever done is spend my money, make me get rid of things I like, and sleep with my friends.
I got 40 acres in the desert, a big crazy dog, a pile of guns, and a ton of projects, I also quit my crappy job. The lack of stress is pretty nice.

I feel you on the lack of stress. I've had an extremely peaceful few weeks since I bounced.. and even my crazy dog hasn't been so crazy lol. Relatively sure he was feeding off of HER craziness.. because he's never been so well behaved and normal.

It's all just extremely refreshing.

How much does land cost in the desert anyways?

Cheapest land available in Maine is still about a grand an acre.. but it's waaaaaay out there lol.. where I'm looking to buy is about 2k an acre and it's only about an hour from our largest city & where I work so.. not terrible.

Went and picked up another b2 to add to the hoard (I now own 4) and stored it over at my friend's house. Hoping to start on the build of one this fall.
Addicting, aren’t they? :icon_rofl:

I gave $12,500 for 40 acres about 5 years ago. It's shot up to about $75,000 now. I really regret not buying more. My area is getting infested with idiots from various cities now though and the town an hour away is pushing all sorts of building codes. I'm considering selling and moving even farther from other people.

Welding aluminum is kinda annoying, some welds look great others look like garbage and the only difference seems to be the angle the wire is from the metal (I'd be more consistent but this isn't the most comfy welding I've ever done kneeling on 2" angle and 2x4's for hours including brakes)? It did help when I added about .8V but still iffy whether it will be good or bad... that said I did get all of the crossmembers on the boat floor attached, it's WAY more sturdy now walking in the thing. Now I just need to get some fancy plywood in odd sizes (one piece of 5'x9' and one 4'x8' will do the whole thing) and some of that foam stuff and some screws and I should be good...

I was going to add some caps to the 3 posts by the windshield, I cut the pieces but then I thought through it and went looking for my welding blanket which is awol... I'll pick one up tomorrow and finish those... I just welded up the crack on the nose and added material to the tiedown hole up front.

Addicting, aren’t they? :icon_rofl:
They're all a means to an end, I would like one, and only one. I've been collecting other parts to build one, and once I've taken what I want from all of them, 3 of them will be going away. There will be some parts that may make their way into storage but that won't be everything.

Scary baby and I fabricated a new ash pan for my Chimenea.

I clamped a 2 pound sledge into my granddaddy’s vice, and used it to pound out the rounded edge on the outside

After the tornado, I added a really nice covered deck outside so we had a place to sit and sip whiskey and smoke cigars. Before that we used to sit on 5 gallon pails in the yard.

Well, the females decided they liked the covered deck also, and they ran us off, so we were smoking cigars on 5 gallon of pails in the yard

So I built about a 15 ft.² area of benches and pavers in the middle out of pressure treated, with an opening on all four sides, one to the deck, one to the yard, one is a covered entrance to the crawlspace, and the fourth is where my gas grill sits.

I found a really nice cast-iron Chimenea that was perfect since the grating was open on all four sides. I I ran a gas line to it so it was easy to start and use. So we could sit around on the benches and drink whiskey and smoke cigars and tell lies.

Well, you know what happened, then the women wanted to come and sit on the benches around the fire. So we were relegated back to the covered deck for the cigars .

Now when i have a group over, at the beginning of the evening, I take a vote between the men and the women on who's gonna get the fire pit.

I made the chimney pan out of a piece of stainless from an old gas grill. The original one was just mild steel and burnt up in no time. We’ll see how long this one lasts.

I've got some more stuff installed on the 2019 and I have to figure some things out yet, but I'm still waiting on stuff. So, until I get that, I'm on hold.

So, I finally started working on taking down the carport. Hopefully, it will stay dry the whole time like the weather app is forecasting that it will. The lights, extension cords, gap filler, and front section of the tarp have been removed and stored away until late fall.

Worked my normal 10 hr shift, had a txt @ 8:15 that the new washer came in, so after work we hooked up the trailer & went to town, got it home & unloaded onto the back porch. Im too cheap to buy a new pedestal so went to install it and the bolt holes have changed. (not really a surprise, both are whirlpool but my pedestals are around 2008) so I take some measurements, drill holes & try it. damn. Im a little off. So I egg them out a bit in the direction they need to go. (surprisingly the bolts were actually 3/8-16, I thought they would of been metric) Get some flatwashers now that Ive got oblong 1/2” holes for my 3/8” hardware & get it together. By the time I got it in place in the house & tools put up, trash took care of its 9:00. Think im more beat from my at-home work than my paying job.

More welding on the boat then more grinding, after I got home from work that is... after I went to HFT for a couple welding blankets which I'm pretty sure saved me $40 worth of damage to windows or something or other... I'm done for the night...

Paid for a new-to-me tractor... if you've paid attention it shouldn't be much of a surprise but it's a Ford 3 cylinder diesel... for me small is fine so it's a 2000 which is rated at like 35hp which is 10 more than my Kubota and has bigger tires so might not get stuck as bad... no loader and currently not running (but just needs like 10 bolts put back in and a battery aside from draining the fuel system to clean it better than he was doing...). Being me with the experience I have from getting my brothers tractors running it is a good fit... So this is a teaser post, I'm going to pick it up Thursday after work...

I got the rear tarp removed from the carport, installed the water rotopax containers on the 2019, and cut the grass. So, I only need an extension mount for the 3 gallon fuel can. The other two worked just fine.

The side awning on the carport is down and the slide for the 12 volt refrigerator came in today. A bit beat up, but usable after a little rebending of some metal. Given the lack of hand holds on the box and for the weight of the slide, it's understandable why it got dropped at least once. There was some rubber foam packing encasing the whole thing. So, it wasn't for a lack of trying. Once I get the box with the drawers for the bed built, the slide will get mounted on top.

Property got mowed, big burn pile got burned, some stuff cleaned up and moved around. Also both myself and Lisa ended up getting sick from the heat so there was a bunch of time spent in chairs in the shade. Also took my F-150 up to Paul’s so he can load it with brush that needs burned, got my hair cut, parts came, and the best part…

One of the metal door handles in the F-150 snapped right off with no effort. Of course it’s the one on the good door.

Spent like $630 on the boat today... two sheets of plywood (one 4x8 and one 5x9) was like $250 then 3 rolls of EFA foam flooring was like $380... it'll be nice to have a floor that's not ratty though.
