What did YOU do today?

But if made properly, you can’t hang anything on it.

Very true.

It's easier to nail to a tree than jello is though... what a waste of nails and an afternoon THAT was 🙄

Got a delivery today, too hot to put it on right now, wasn’t even going to buy one since they seem to go for $175/$200 but this was a “damaged “ part, box beat up & paint scratched across the front of the bull bar for $100. Hit it with some flat black rickoleum and its as good as a pricier one.

After jumping through 80 loopholes to get a burned windows image on a disk, I reinstalled windows on the slow old PC and now have working forscan. Or at least working on an install that doesn’t make me want to throw the computer at the wall.

Picked up wood to complete the new fire rack and decided it is time to replace the tarp on the other one while I'm there and have the canoe off the rack above them. It required another trip to the home improvement store but it will pay off on the long run. I got some 3'X2' galvanized corrugated roof panels and some 1"X4" boards to cover the sides and back. Most of the wood is cut now and just needs screwed together. Weather permitting, that work will get done tomorrow.

I lived in France for 10 years and I can tell you the only thing they hang is sausages. Only in select locations.

Nope! Not commenting on this! Just walking away!

Took some time with the now-working scanner to try to diagnose the 2000 f-450 7.3 here at camp.
A few weeks ago I went to start it up and it stumbled a bit as it started, and now it doesn’t run right. Low power, noticeable miss under low to moderate throttle, and a different, more “knock”-ish sound at idle.

I’ve not gotten very far. Buzz test and contribution test both check out, if you don’t count the usual #8 cylinder code because of the gray CPS. My only other lead is I have 3 or 4 different backpressure related codes. So that’s the lead I get to work off of.

Turned the caddy into a AK pistol, and learned that AAA will totally hire someone with weed leaves tattoo'd on their face lol.

changed oil in all 3 cars, only the equinox needed it , and since we’re going out of state with it soon I thought I should get it done before the trip, Both escapes had another 1,000 K to go but V6 escape was down a qt and rather than top it off I changed it, 4cyl escape recently had a thermostat change & since its not ran up to temperature since I bought it , So they all are done now until the next 3,000 miles get here or next spring.

I got the upgrade done on the one firewood rack. It took longer than expected, partly due to the off an on rain and partly because the modification of the tarp to just be a front cover instead of a top cover as well. Oh, the metal things on the tarp was a failed experiment with snaps. They started pulling through the canvas upon first testing of how they would work. So, now they are just filling the holes in the tarp.

Started out putting the camper on the F350 then drove it over to where the tractor pulls are next weekend and ended up helping replace the wood on one of the sets of bleachers (other 3 are metal and a couple are fairly new) and it was only a balmy 95ish out... then went out to linner with the wife and grocery shopping, now I'll putz around until I run out of go, likely won't get anything really done since it's still 88 out at 6:30...

Crammed myself in a standard cab ranger for like 10 hours with a 4yo and loved every minute of it.

I gave up fiddle farting around trying to restore the clearcoat on the cap on Big Red. I could’ve probably gotten it 90 or 95% OK, but there were some bad marks where it was easy to see. Truck paint is near perfect.

You’ll never guess what I did. I sanded the whole thing, good job on the sides and the back, just functional up on the roof, and I painted it with sunrise red rust oleum. I’ve used that color to touch up a half a dozen dings I’ve gotten over the years, and if I just feather it a tiny little bit with a fine brush it’s almost invisible.

I did a really good job on the sides, and I used a fine foam roller with a technique. I’ve developed over decades. After the first coat, I used a half inch nap roller on the roof, just to get the color to match and get a very good thick coat quickly. With some texture. It was 90°, clear and low humidity today, so it got pretty well set after a few hours. Then I went back out and did a doubly good final coat on the sides. Unless it needs another final final coat when I look at it.

I put it out front with the masking still on it since I had to get the Road Ranger coupled up and ready for caffeine and octane tomorrow. I’ll have before during and after pictures of the F250 tomorrow or Monday.

As close as the paint is, my only teeny concern is that with the whole cap being the sunrise red, it will be too noticeable. Not that I care that much, but it’s a pretty nice truck. My solution will most likely be some little graphics and pinstripes if it’s too far off.
