Uh, this is gonna be more @bobbywalter territory…

D-44 straight axle front, pushed forward enough to make use of a junkyard driveshaft for a front shaft. Doubler on the t-case and push the rear axle (leaning towards an 8.8) back far enough to still use a stock Ranger rear shaft. Whatever else I have to do to make it work. Shooting for 38-44” tires and some sort of nod towards ”street legal” while cutting anything that gets in my way (along with all the damage from the wreck that caused it to be parked). Depending on time and money and such, possibly a drivetrain swap. If not, 4.0 and modded A4LD will do for now… possibly eventually superduty axles if I happen to score a set instead of the 44 and 8.8
 
Oh, and I have both a low pinion D-44HD that is already set up for hydro assist and a high pinion D-44
 
Gonna need some gearing to push tires that big With a 4.0. Sounds like a fun project.

Well, if I use the high pinion D-44 front, I’ll want a 5x5.5 bolt pattern for the rear axle. Ideally I’ll just get some Superduty axles to throw under it. An 8.8 out of an F-150 would be easy enough to get, I’d have one sitting around if it hadn’t been stolen. I dunno how an 8.8 or a D-44 would like 44” tires and I’m not sure if I can make 44’s happen yet either. I’m still kind of in the spitballing ideas stage at the moment. I’m open to ideas and information. Ideally I’ll get some stuff done to the green Ranger and Choptop to get them a little more rounded out and remove some lingering gremlins along with getting the dump truck working again. Somewhere in there I intend to settle on a plan for the 92 and start collecting parts.

You’d be surprised. With proper prep a rattle can job can last quite a while. My truck was originally all dark blue. I added a better silver bed and thought if I painted the middle of the bed blue & top / bottom of cab silver Id have a classic’70’s two tone look. Its been 4 years now and still looks good. Only bad thing is the hood, probably from all the underhood heat. But since its meant to look older I think its fine.

Today I finished christmas shopping. greeting cards & gift cards. A little impersonal but less time, hassle and maybe a little less money. So call me scrooge, since you see christmas stuff in stores since late september, by dec 1 im just ready for it to be over.

I surrendered my 2003 Ranger today: took it to a transmission shop which will install a brand new Torsen limited slip differential. This is the snow belt and I can't wait for the upgrade.

Being able to do donuts in both directions is extremely liberating lol.

The added traction is nice too I suppose..


Don't be discouraged. That spray paint job will look like new at least for a year.

I'm just kidding lol, a year is more than enough for me though. There's a couple options for fab'd aluminum covers I might explore whenever it's time to put a new head on the thing.. the covers are meant to be on a carbed 2.3 though.. dunno if the Intake/throttle body will fit over the top of one.
 
Installed my new GMRS radio in the F250. It can be switched between there and the Ranger in just a few minutes any time it's needed. Power cord, antenna and bracket stay where they are.

Then I cleaned, inventoried and repacked the tool bag I use for travel and junk yard trips. Only had to replace one socket. Had an extra in my "spare tools" box. The travel/junk yard bag is worn out and some tool rolls are on the way to replace it.

What if I roll the base coat on, or buy a gallon and spray the base coat with my spray gun? Then I’d just have to use the rattle cans for the freehand striping…
