What did YOU do today?

Similar, maybe 2" of frozen stuff, roads aren't too bad, ventured into town with the '90 a few minutes ago, didn't get over 50 since there's no shoulders around here and I don't want to play in a ditch... plus the spindle bearing or whatever in the front starts vibrating around 45...

Different fiasco. When I rebuilt the roof in my slide in camper.

random thought, it was like 120* warmer when I was working on that...

Oh, yeah the camper thing too :), yeah, bit different than when you were rebuilding your roof but similar amount of fun other than the giant awkward sheet to be glued down...

Installed a touch screen head unit in a 2015 Grand Caravan for a friend of mine, it replaces the stock unit that kinda worked but kinda didn't. Also installed the module so the steering wheel buttons work with the new unit as well.

Not much. Feeling best I have in a week though.

At dad's suggestion I checked the coolant in the donor Explorer. Seems like they're calling for it to be below freezing several days this week. The coolant may be greenish, but according to the tester there's no protection there. I'll probably be wanting to drain that tomorrow.

I think I'm also going to be putting some trail cams out behind the house. Seems like I've got a phantom shitter lurking around. Never see it until it's on my boot, but has happened too many times. I don't have animals, I don't particularly want animals, and I don't appreciate them dropping duces right up near the back of my house. I'm going to guess a dog, maybe a cat. What ever it is, if I catch it, it's done. People around here would cry about it, but this state has leash laws. If they cared about their animals, they wouldn't be running loose through my back yard.

Went out and cleared the snow off the walks, porch, and parking areas. That was enough for outside stuff. I also checked the condition of the roof, house, garage, and carport since it's been pretty windy the last few days.

What’s the big deal about a paper towel on your boot? Let’s not get to drastic here, it’s just a joke. Do you know how long it took me to train Lincoln to go in your backyard and poop?

opossum or racoon is more likely.

friendly FYI, mess with a cat and you will find hell hath no fury to counter old ladies love of cats.

I tried the RC car (Traxxas rustler with a brushless motor, 4x2) that was fun yesterday but now that everything has crusted over it was really boring, the first step in the speed control was all that I could do while having control, any more and you were doing uncontrolled donuts even easing into the throttle any little bump made it slow down and just spin... lame

On a serious note, while I was working outside today, I almost lost Lincoln. And let me preface this by saying he’s OK. He got a couple cuts, but nothing serious.

Sometimes I let him run free when I am with him, and he listens to me, so I’m not worried about it. But when I’m just working in the yard, I always tie him up. With our cold weather, I bought him a new winter coat.

I loved it because it fit him very well.

Well, while I was working away, he will frequently bark at this and bark at that, run towards the front, run towards the back, but that’s why I have him tied up. Let me also say, I live on a very busy road.

The next thing I know, I hear screeching tires, a thump, a lady scream, and when I turn around, I see the long lead I used to tie up Lincoln, with the harness (not the jacket) on the end of it. I was shocked and devastated, but just for a moment.

Then I see Lincoln, cowering in my neighbors yard, I called to him, and he came my way, but he would not come up to me. The brand new jacket? The harness pulled out of the coat part.

The lady told me that he ran across the road, I know it was to check out her dog, and he got hit by a little truck. The truck slammed on the brakes, and thank God, Lincoln got bumped, tumbled under the truck, and then ran off.

I immediately checked him out, and could not find anything wrong, and then, when he calmed down, and let me handle him a little bit, I did a more detailed inspection. He has a scraped elbow on his hind leg, he has about a half inch cut at the top of his thigh, and I think he scraped his tail a little bit. But thank God, nothing serious.

Oh, and BTW, I totally crapped my pants!

I’m taking him to the vet in the morning, just to be safe.

Prior to this episode, I pulled the spare 15 inch steelie out from under the Missing Linc, and replaced it with a 15 inch bullet hole I had. I’m really anal, and I want the spare to match the truck, but I needed the 15 inch steelie for the Trailer project.

Then I ran over to the Shoney’s shed guy and got a couple of the 14s I got mounted on the 14 inch bullets. Now I have all the wheels and tires I need for the next two projects.

Then I tied up Lincoln in his “new” jacket, and I painted on the Missing Linc Trailer. I wrote that up under the Missing Linc.

If my trail cam catches Lincoln doing it, I'll set a live trap. See if I can get some Stockholm Syndrome going on. If that fails, I'll ransom him back for something like a cold drink from the coffin cooler. Glad to hear he made it through his little adventure in relatively good shape.

Dogs & owners around here aren't like you and Lincon. If they were I probably wouldn't mind them so much. People around here will neglect and let them roam free, then badmouth the world if anything happens to it. A couple of years ago some of those roaming dogs killed an elderly man in his yard. I'm not talking about discarded strays, but pets who's owners let roam. Owners swore up and down it wasn't their dogs, their dogs wouldn't do it. None of the owners could place the location of their animals, which were caught on video by a security camera and identified by neighbors. That was the worst, but also many incidences with livestock and the same reactions by owners.

My neighbors dogs aren;t that bad, but the neighbors themselves aren't much better. The dogs are overly agressive towards me (I was here first by a lot), but they do stay in the fenced yard. I don't blame the dogs for their agressiveness, I haven't been very social with the neighbors since they moved in. No beef, just no real contact. If I were more neighborly the dogs would probably be more friendly. Problem there is they have 3-4 large dogs, I'm thinking possibly Great Pyrs, in a 30x50 (max) fenced area and I've never seen them have the dogs outside of that area.

opossum or racoon is more likely.

Possible, that's why I'm going to put a camera out to hopefully see what it is. Generally with an opossum or racoon there is something to keep drawing them back to the same places. There's nothing I can find that would keep attracting them back. If it is one of those, it's definitely getting eliminated. Dog or cat, I might have just trapped it and turned it over to a shelter or something to get it away from here.

Very aware of the crazy old cat ladies. I have to listen to my other neighbor crying "here kitty kitty" of her front porch on a regular basis. They are usually only a problem when fighting or just after I've washed a vehicle. Have been tempted to see if I could call in a pack of coyotes to thin the cat herd. After several disappeared I'd conveniently identify the problem and help out by hunting the coyotes. Win, win. I'm equipped to remove either pest without the crazy cat lady knowing more than it disappeared.

Doesn’t TRS have some rules about this kind of veiled threat to a guy like me? I was only joking about training Lincoln to go up there. I don’t want to be eaten in my own yard by a guy who was pissed off at the old lady next-door who has a cat. How do we escalate this to the grievance committee?

LOL! I figured you'd me more upset about me threatening to keep and brainwash Lincoln. Also I'm pretty sure that guy was in his 80s, I don't think you're that elderly yet. I think most of us could put up enough fight to make the dogs reconsider (or atleast feel it), unfortunately he wasn't able to.

It's amazing how much animals act like people or vice versa. "Oh my boy was a good angel, he wouldn't do that." Applies to family's pet that just mauled someone to death, or a convicted fellon packing heat, lots of drugs, and gunned down in a shootout with LEOs.

Also if I'm being honest, the idea of calling in coyotes was for the fun of busting coyotes. I have got enough property and room to hunt behind the house and I've definitely heard them around here. Any of Crazy Cat Lady's many cats dissapearing in the process would just be a bonus for me. Most I'm actually likely to do to her cats is fire some 22 rat shot in their direction if they start fighting around my house again. More to scare them off than hurt anything.

Can't seem to find that volume of the bylaws. Oh, wait. There it is in the restroom. Seems to be a few pages missing. Oops.
