What did YOU do today?

Picked up a piece of metal for the trailer, adjusted the carriage bolts on the spare tire racks to match a 5 X 4.5" lug pattern, and attempted to fix the propane torpedo heater. The thermo couple/ multi bracket assembly was not the fix even though the internet experts said it would be.

Today I cursed the sky. Why? Because I could. Then, I drove my truck home. I feel better.

Today I fixed my high beams that haven't been working for the last 6 months, fixed my non working blue LED dash lights (just had to turn them 180°), buttoned up all the dash I had apart from yesterday. Then inside I replaced the bathroom door knob, turns out the old one didn't use any kind of sil plate on the latch side and I had to do some work to make the notch in the door to account for the new set up. Also the for jamb where the striker plate is supposed to go had about 10 different previous screw holes and none of them worked for the new set up. Ended up having to use a bunch of wood filler and let it set then set up the new striker and screwed it down. Also I installed a new wall mount oscillating fan to help circulate air from the front room into the bunk area for the girls so when the a/c is on it reached back there and same for the heat. Quite a list of projects for my two days of. Now the next two days are filled with work, but the weekend cometh and I'm off for all 3 days. I have no current plans to do anything, but we'll see.

My brother came over tonight and we got busy, got two of my shop projects done which is nice. The ceiling fan I got the other day is now installed, wired (corrected a dumb thing I did putting two wires in one breaker a couple years ago, put a duplex breaker in) and working, it should help a lot in the winter and summer, it's a 6' diameter beast and like 15' off the ground, moves a lot of air... Then we got the desk I thought up put together, mounted the two little tool boxes to the bottom of the 6' of counter top left over from the kitchen project, added a couple pieces of 2x4 to the bottom of that so it is sturdier, worked out! Little high at 35" tall but I got a bar stool height desk chair over the summer that fits it nicely (adjustable height).

Conveniently a few of the projects over the last few weeks have used up some of the "just in case" things I've had in my way for a while! That 6' countertop, some 2x4's, all the lumber making the bridge on Saturday...

Well I can't argue that. Its even the same color haha

One has to balance out the joy of having a new truck with the un-joy of a spouse in an old car.

Wise choice in my opinion.

In all of my installation and repairs on the truck the last two days, I discovered some unfortunate information. I had planned on upgrading the seats to something newer with leather and power (maybe Eddie Bauer Exploder seats or something), but I no longer am as optimistic about it as I used to be. The current seats are not the originals which I knew because I was made aware of it when I bought the truck. What I didn't know is that instead of bolting the seat rails to the floor, they welded everything. They cut out the carpet where they were supposed to mount and just welded them to the floor pan. Scorch marks still on the carpet. I was also planning on pulling the carpet to update it and do sound deadening mat as well, but now that's off the table until I'm able to come up with a solution to cut the seat rails and repair the floor pan back to spec. The joys of having a 30 yr old truck as a 3rd owner and finding out it was a "ranch truck" for a number of years on a cattle ranch south of the border. So many "field" repairs where instead of correct fixes, is just weld it up and the go.

Been working in this toy for a couple weeks now off and on. Finally solved the problem of no spark and putting it back together today along with a couple of improvements tot he electric shift mechanism. Hopefully get it out of space so I can start getting ready to pull the Ranger bed.

I got a little bit of the steel removal done on the trailer. And discovered a couple of bolts I had forgot about. I'll need to figure something out on those since that is where the mounting flange for the suspension will sit. I went into a little more detail in the build thread on that.

When I smashed my legs in 2014/16, as you might imagine, I had to do years of physical therapy to come back. As you can also imagine, I gained a lot of weight from going from a fairly active lifestyle to sitting in my recliner, waiting for my legs to recover.

Part of the physical therapy was to get an exercise bike at home. As my health is recovering, and I improved my diet, and I get more activity, I have been losing weight. I’m happy to say that yesterday, I marked a point where I got rid of 85 pounds of hated extra weight.

I took that flipping exercise bike to the recycle yard, and trashed it!

Edit: the bike weighed 85 pounds, I’m only down 30
