What did YOU do today?

The last forum member that had goats was absolutely insane. He was also from NJ and travelled to Georgia a lot.
Pop quiz…
What goes in a furnace?
Tell us a fact about birds.
Railroads, are they real?

Railroads, are they real?
Aaaahhhh. Those were the days.

strange noise coming from the basement, kind of like water running.
had to wait for the furnace to stop then isolated it to near the pipes.
using my mechanics stethoscope I found the noise in the water supply line.
after checking everything in the house I ventured out to check spigots and saw a big puddle in the street.
looked over and saw water bubbling up at my neighbors driveway next to the street.

it's only 16 degrees now, guess the kids will have a nice ice rink by morning. :icon_rofl:
hope the flashing lights don't keep me awake tonight.

EDIT: they did, and the breaking up of concrete to access the water line.:annoyed:

PJ, Time to install a DRO? The cheap ones on ebay work pretty well.

Working on the slab saw for the last couple of weeks. Cleaning up some "C" channel (1 x 4) for the shaft & pillow block platform. That stuff welds like cast iron.

DRO sounds like a good idea, but the "list" is kinda getting out of hand already.
really cranking down on the Y nut got that backlash down to .002 not ready to do the X nut yet.

My 05 Corolla daily driver must have heard me bragging on it. I've had it for ~7 years and have only had to do basic maintenance, tires, etc.

Driving yesterday I got no heat, then the temp spiked. Didn't hit red, but was close. Coolant level was fine, reverse flushed the core and then noticed the lower coolant hose was still cool.

Had to remove the alternator to access the thermostat housing, snagged a thermostat from O'Reilly's at 8:50pm and got it back together.

I'm guessing the low/missing heat was a forewarning bc it's been slow to warm for at least 2 years. Now I get heat by the time I get to the end of neighborhood.

Also got the reman injectors and upper manifold gasket for my 4.0 this week in the mail

Absolutely nothing, just like the rest of the week. Took the week off work, had leave to use by end of month, and though about doing a few things. Rained all day Monday and Tuesday, and that kind of set the pace for the rest of the week. Only got out for a routine Dr appointment on Wednesday. It's been a total waste of a week, but kind of worth every minute of it. Almost looking forward to going back to work on Monday, almost.

Yep, digital read out

After I got home I kept tinkering on my brothers pocket knife... it's a Kershaw Leek I think (the bigger of the Ken Onion models) that fell out of his pocket while on a tractor and later he found it with the tractor tiller which kinda screwed it up to say the least :), the handle scales were bent to heck and the stainless under it was tweaked, pocket clip broken off, two screws pulled out and one sheared etc... I spent some time with the arbor press and got everything pretty good but didn't have any 2mm screws so took it to Kershaw to sharpen and stuff and they put on a new pocket clip and new screws which was good and all but the threads in the handle scale were stripped when doing final tweaks at home so I took a 3/8" set screw with cupped tip and put that in the arbor press against the scale to shrink the metal around the threads. That worked for the most part, 2 of 3 hold tension good I'm going to rely on blue loctite for the third... gonna give it back to him for christmas with the two extras I bought, annoyingly they don't make any good farmer colors, everything will blend into the weeds, I a few years ago they had a bright yellow which was best but got bright orange this time...

Tonight I started working on clearing out the shop more, the week after Christmas the inlaws from CA are coming up and the father in law is going to help me build a loft in the shop which is MUCH needed... gotta get things cleared out in that area, getting close but have a lot to do in the next couple weekends. I've dropped my expectations down to more reasonable so I'm less worried :)

Yea, DRO...digital readout. They look like a pain to install, but they go in easy using holes that are already there. DRO

Group I run with "Overland Nashville" hosted their toy drive today. I was asked to lead a short ride then lead them over to Mill Creek Brewery for the toy drive. At the event I got to put rhe Ranger up on a RTI ramp. I was surprised at how well it done considering it just has a puck spacer and a add a leaf. It scored a 312 and a Tacoma with Stage 2 Icons and aftermarket control arms only scored a 316. Plus I beat the pants off a Sequoia with some mods haha he was only 280 something haha. But to take it into perspective a bit. The winner for the 2nd year in a row was my friend Josh in his 4runner. He scored a 630 something. This was the IFS class. The strait axle class was up in the 700s.

Wonder what a stock TTB Ranger does? I'm sure it's out there somewhere...

I was the only Ranger at the event. I had several people ask me how I liked it and of course I told them how much I love it. Hopefully inspired some Yota and Nissan folks to swap out. That being said I'd loved to have seen a TTB on th ramp.
