What did YOU do today?

Went without the bronco all day... it's getting its annual gooping with NHOU. Pick it up whenever the guy calls me. Apparently he's running a bit behind though as I Dropped it off last night & the appt was for today... no biggie.

Headed back to the ranger tomorrow.. plan is to button up the loose coolant hoses and take it for a spin! Gotta make it a quick&dirty roll-pan first though.. I took its horrendous & hilariously flimsy 'off road' bumper last time I was over there.. good riddance to that abomination 🤢

Got hot again here, finished pressure washing the house (had it half done sometime in june) Made a switch for my new to me garage fan, its plugged into the overhead light circuit but I made a drop-down cord with a switch attached. Measured for a new back door, who knows when that “want” will get done, its more a her thing than a me thing, guess Id better get on it. lol

I got two of the four boxes done and screws and metal are curing for the third. The metal is primed and sealed to the wood with acrylic RTV. Once the boxes are done, I'll need to put new seals on the lids to keep water out. Eventually, the entire boxes will be painted but I was more interested in preventing the steel from rusting anymore than it did at this point.

Pics of Japanese shitbox?
You know, as soon as I read his post I thought “wait till @Blmpkn sees this” after I double checked to make sure it wasn’t you that posted it…

Went to the local car show, somehow I got second place in the burnout contest, The winner only popped one tire, but his Ranger was cooler than my Japanese shit box, even though mine sounded better.

how can you see through all that smoke to know if he’s really doing a burnout? I’ve never done one.

I mowed down a bunch of the weeds in the yard, a never-ending journey. But Lincoln loves it, easier to chase the chipmunks and field mice.

And sometimes you get lucky. I think I mentioned the clearcoat I put on the F250 cap last year went sour. I went to clean it with my three or four-year-old harbor freight El Cheapo pressure washer, and some of that old clearcoat just blew off. So then I focused in, and, if I set the pressure washer with just the tiniest little bit of fan, and I worked it back-and-forth from a couple inches out, I was able to get 95% of that clearcoat off the sides.

i’m going to rough sand and bathe the top in fresh clearcoat, but I still want the sides to look good. Hopefully tomorrow I can fine sand it. I have to touch up the red in a few places where that blew off too.

I already bought the clearcoat, and I know I need to do a test patch before I do the whole thing, but I am not renowned for my patience. Wish me luck.

:shrugs:

I don’t think it overheated, but I couldn’t really keep an eye on the temperature gauge or the speedometer, didn’t boil over as I adjusted the fan clutch spring and hot wired the condenser pusher fan. top of third gear till it shifted into overdrive but didn’t have the balls to hang that gear out. They shut me down before I burned them down to just beads. I wanted it to sing just one more time. There’s a sweet spot at about 30 seconds in where it’s really giving er!

If you squint, it kinda looks like a crown Vic :lmao:

Shortly after I posted last I got a couple phone calls, my brother got a manure spreader at an auction and needed to go pick it up (15 miles from my house, no biggie) then my mom called and wanted to hang out for a bit so we did that then went and got the manure spreader... it's just a little guy but it was cheap and in good shape. Annoyingly it just has sleeve bearings on the bed drive chain and the previous owner didn't grease them at all so one side froze up really tight, tried hammers, propane heat then map gas heat then oxy/acetylene heat then pulled the zerc fitting and took a hole saw and cut off the weld holding the tube on. Just got home from taking my brother back home and he conveniently found a flange bearing at his house we'll put on in it's place sometime in the future...

Wife bought a shelf at goodwill she wanted mounted, oddly enough it used a french cleat to mount so I used the table saw to cut up a piece of scrap at a 45 degree angle to make one and mounted it to the wall... I gotta admit that french cleat thing is pretty neat, might have to use that more around the shop once I get more organized... and more used to using the table saw :)

Q45? One of the dudes that works at dunks in my town has one, super neat. You don't EVER see them around either... good work!

I'll be posting some rubber ruination sooner than later hopefully! Hehehe

You punk kids wasting tires… :dntknw:

I don’t have the money to waste tires. And I hate breaking stuff.

For the most part I only do burnouts on tires that need replacing, or with vehicles headed to the scrap yard... like that blue ranger I did that mega smokeshow in.

That being said.... the 2019 ranger really chopped its front tires hard, despite having a perfect alignment.

The week leading up to when I traded it in... I did a rotation to get the chopped tires out back... and then did 2 controlled & calculated burnouts while leaving work just to level them off... hilariously.... it worked perfect! Gotta love an e-locker.

Only two burnouts I did in that truck I believe... I'm growing old and wise and boring I guess 😋

I have a pair of mounted snowtires to put on the ranger this year... so the ones it's currently wearing are totally free game 💪
