What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

You could do this... and many folks do. So please don't think I'm calling you out Sharky... I just think there is a win win for members and TRS by blocking the ads another way.

I ask why not just get the supporting membership banner and support the longest running Ranger forum on the internet?

It literally costs less then .20 cents a week. It helps Jim carry the cost of keeping The Ranger Station alive.

So I may have mentioned before I love Craigslist. I wasn’t looking for anything, really, and I stumbled up on this and fetched it with the Missing Linc:

  1. 8 pieces of 3’ 1-1/2x1/8 perforated square steel,
  2. 4 pieces of 18 inch.
  3. 6 pieces of 12 inch.
  4. One 9’ 8” aluminum, 2” x 4” x 1/8.
  5. Two 10 foot 2x2-1/8 slotted square tubing, it’s some kind of frame piece
  6. Two 10” x 1-3/4” mirror-polished aluminum tube plus a 3’ 5” piece (tent pole?)
  7. Two 6’ 7” pieces, 1-5/8” that can slide snug but not tight into the others
  8. One 8 foot piece of 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 aluminum angle
  9. Plus a six foot piece
And the WOW mind bender, 12 pieces of 1/2”x1-1/2x 4’ x 1/8 high-polish chrome plated steel tubing, looks to me like it was part of a display or something.
Also, one 5 ft piece.

$95.00. That’s about what the big aluminum piece would cost by itself.

All the stuff above, I know I’ll use it sometime for something, but the chrome slats just intrigued me up. I already have a vision of redoing the light bar on the missing link, and putting on a stake side riser made out of the chrome pieces. Don’t try to understand, it’s just the way my brain works.

Smaller & closer to the cab, but this idea

I
I put in my new sun boxes and bar for my 4 point racing harness so happy with how the splatters turned out

Worked on the green Ranger project. Was trying to work on the frame repair but the rear cab mount was giving me fits. Now that the bushing is partially melted, maybe I can successfully cut it off tomorrow. In between working on that I was working to move some other parts of that project forward. Soon as the frame is done I want to get the leaf packs rebuilt, shock mount, sway bar, traction bar and dampener shock whipped up. For some reason I seem to be unable to locate the dampener shock mount and one of the traction bar mounts. Also my one factory shock mount seems to have wandered off. Not too terribly worried about the dampener shock mount, and if I can’t easily find the traction bar mount, well, I know where one is so I can at least get holes drilled before the bed goes back on. Just since the bed is off, I want to take advantage of my access right now and save myself some frustration. Probably should have just pulled the bed from the start…

Really wish I had an experienced set of hands to help me for a couple days. I’ve had a couple friends offer to help, but I’d have to show them how to do everything and that’s not really a help right now, I need someone who can fabricate, problem solve, and such things.

Maybe you should call the White House press secretary. Lord knows she can fabricate, but come to think of it. They already have all the problem solved.

Well I stopped by the old secret parts hordin spot, and got the surprisingly good stock leaf springs from my original 83 ranger. Got them wire wheeled and painted. Even though it's kinda pointless, but now the axle, lift blocks, and springs are nice and black. Got everything put together on the driver side. I still need to cut the pass side original leaf spring free to get it replaced. Then it's just a matter of connecting the main brake line, and getting the conversion u joint. Also thinking about running a set of b2 wheels white, with the black squares around the cut outs, and red pinstriping, I do love my aloy bullet holes but idk these may look good. Idk there is a reason we all go with the bullet holes, i wish i could find another set of chrome bullet holes granted they need love

Meh, not to get into politics, but the current one is not only a babe in the woods but a deer in the headlights. At least Jen Psaki could make up stuff and lie somewhat convincingly on the fly… besides, all they produce is trash. Even a lot of the Repiglicans. I don’t need that sort of help. I could, however, make wonderful use of some of the millions they throw around, that could solve my problems…

Anyway, no, what I could use would be someone like you, or really any of the other guys on here that aren’t afraid to sally forth into the great unknown with a welder and grinder. Or even just a grinder and knowing how to use a tape measure to fit things. That would be a vast help to be able to divide and conquer. I could use a clone…

Unfortunately most of us live some distance away and have to work for a living and can’t really just say hey, I’m going to help a friend for a couple days. Current prices on things don’t help that either. Would be a much better world if that was possible though, that we could just drop everything and help someone…

I have to say that the bullet holes are my favorite, that’s what I used on the Road Ranger and it’s trailer, and a couple others I’m planning. The exception is the Missing Linc.

I’ve never seen that cross wheel, but I think it’s got good potential if you painted creatively. Down here, everybody was throwing away the steelies, and when I was bored and sick one day, I started fiddling around with a couple of them with rustoleum just to pass the day. Here’s what I came up with.

I actually have a set of 15 x 7 Lincoln turbine wheels I was going to use on the Missing Linc, but I like these so much I never got around to finishing off the others.

Only other thought is, I’m not into it enough to know which center caps go with which wheels, I just know the ones I like. If you use the bullet holes, my preference are these:

As always, Hope it helps!

Anyone ever remove a transmission(by themselves) while the vehicle is still on the trailer? Lots of sharp edges to cut yourself on as a bonus LOL. Got it loaded on the truck along with one of my spare TH350s and we'll be heading to my friend Chris' transmssion shop with the lot so he can make one out of the two of them. Don't think the reverse pattern valve body or the transbrake is hurt and I know that other TH350 works real good so we should be all set to go for the next race.
