What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Put some touch up paint on a few stone chips.
Whatever floats your boat.

Worked on the red Ranger and it fought me the whole time. Made some progress but spent more time fighting with it and having to fetch tools that I didn’t use when taking everything apart. The last straw was when I was tightening the nuts on the starter for the wires and the solenoid on the starter broke. I put everything away and called it a night before other things got broken

Moved the Bronco to my father's shop so I can work on it long after dark.

The tow hooks I added make it so much easier to strap down.

I drove mine around.....no time to work on it....

It's not a good idea to chain or strap to the chassis. A good bump will compress the springs and snap the straps, and even chain can break in that situation. Chain to the axle. Or buy some J-hooks to connect to the axle.

Used the old girl to haul some junk to the dump then meet up with a scrap hauler to get rid of the rigs ive been parting out. Gave her a tank of non ethanol fule, ran so much better. I just love driving that truck around. Even with that 37 year old 2.3 and 4 speed its just a joy. But i cant wait for the 4.0 swap thats been over a year in the making, and will probably take another.

It's not obvious in the pic but the car gets cranked down pretty hard on the suspension to reduce bump slack. We have been slowly gathering components to convert the trailer to tire straps, though.

Moved it out of the driveway so could work on the Buick (needed rear brakes)

BTW, the spin in rear calipers are kind of a pain in the ass... and the effing $40 tool to do so does not make it much easier....

I tried that before and one good bump had it bounce anyway. I’ll stick to hooking to axles. Bought a couple axle straps awhile back, but most f the time I use the tow dolly anymore

I hate those ratcheting pistons. PITA for sure. Give me rear drums any day.

Haven't got pictures yet, but replaced all the Euro style clear lights with smoked out lights. Only clear lights left are the headlights, which I will be getting some Spec D smoked headlights soon. I'll post some pics later this week.

Engine/trans/convertor/flexplate shield all assembled and hanging off the chain hoist waiting to go in the hole maybe tomorrow. Might try to install the transmission shield first because it might be easier than laying under the truck later on.

Flexplate shield was NOT suited for our aftermarket chrome dipstick tube so I spent an hour bending and fitting because it's illegal to modify the shield. Three of those transmissions on the farm and not one stock dipstick between them.
