What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Finished up my frame/ suspension rust repair, scraped & cleaned the frame then hosed on some rust-o-ilium heavy duty red primer and some cheap undercoating (all I could find around here) New muffler and tail pipe, then got the bed back on along with the tailgate, bed liner and tool box. Hauled my trash away, much better in the turns and quieter as well, now for some Slaw-Dogs 'cause I skipped lunch.

Applied the Ford approved catalytic converter heat shield rattle fix, two hose clamps around the cat :), also changed the oil for the first time in like 8k miles...

Test fit my crude console...

Nice, looks like it could withstand a direct hit from a flying chowdah can!

looks like it can store a few chowdah cans as well!

Only 6 cans, but it'll have to do.

I could probably squeeze a few more cans in if I use the condensed stuff, but I have my standards...

Freaking hell.... that paint wasn't dry and now I got paint all over my chowdah just to take that picture!

you should probably leave some room for a few spoons and napkins.. unless you just chug the can and wipe your mouth on your shirt, then the extra space is not necessary...

Loaded up the dog and went for a ride in it. Beautiful December day here today. Sunny, mid 40's. Went out to the Jocassee Gorges area. Took horse pasture rd up as far as jumping off rock. Then came back via cane creek rd. All good forest rds. Easy to do in 2wd with good ground clearance.

Let's keep going!

Let it run for a lil bit after it snowed.

Then got stuck..... Ram to the rescue....

I woke up the whole neighborhood lol

I picked up my 31 spline 8.8 the other day also for the next project truck.

I always wondered what that random mounting point cast into the housing up by the pinion of some 8.8's was for.

A completely pointless shock pretending to be a panhard bar apparently...

May also be used to mount a large cast iron counterweight to add unsprung weight and help... Something?

I snagged one to test but haven't been bored enough to try it yet.

Who knows with Ford. They make alot of insanely useless gizmos to fix problems that never existed... :ROFLMAO:

The roundish deal to the left is the harmonic thing. Off a first Gen Explorer.
