what im wondering is whats screw and bolt on for a noob like me, like im sure a filter, any covers i can obviously do but what else could i get (iwana research price)on these big ass motors that would be good to replace, or make it look better hehe besides painting it, what kinda upgrades are the ones i see on youtube there probly supercharged which is obviously a different motor.

1) ahh ic how hard is that to do, is it take off wheels and put a new shock on or what?(sorry noob question), u named quite a few options i didnt wanna weld but i would (wellmynef would), whats gonna look how can i say this "real" a nice look , i dont mind replacing stuff if it aint to hard right just dont wanna get stuck heh.. belltech shackles, 4x4 blocks whats that stuff? iv probly seen it just need to see it on a ranger lol..

bigger tire on back, yeah true that would give the look im going for quite a bit i think.

2) alright ima grab some pics now of it show you guys my ranger danger :) ill snap one of the motor to..

3) ya like dressings iunno on a bike for example like a clutch cover, but with carbon fib would be the update instead of grey factory lol, like on my ranger its a black top, the 2 long blocks we'll say , probly close to top of pistons there, i saw some different ones that are chrome, is it screw off and on , no way?!?!?!?! i gotta grab a pic of my ranger

4) lol im not gonna edit that late night for me last night

5)great

6) i see well this motor being pretty damn old, what could u do from the top like that? that ones for fun hehe thanks for replys man!!!! keep it up:D:yahoo:

None of the stuff mentioned requires welding, For the Shackles go here http://www.therangerstation.com/Magazine/spring2009/belltech_6400.htm They will give you about 2 -3" lift in the rear.

A 4x4 block is just a 2 or 3" block between the axle and the springs, you simply unbolt the u bolts drop the axle place the block in between, and get larger u bolts and bolt it back up.

And you can replace the rear leaf springs like this, http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/ExplorerLeafs.htm or there is one for chevy leaf springs as well.

Seeing as you got the 2.3L engine You might enjoy doing a turbo 2.3L swap. you won't have to change alot around. Get a motor from a turbo couple stang or a t bird, and build that sucker up a bit you can probably achieve around 250 -300 hp easiely and you can get alot of shiny chrome parts for it as well.

You can change the top end parts like the head and gaskets ect... but an engine removal would do some good. Get it out tear it down get it cleaned up and put it back together.

for a hot rod build i would recomedn at least a 4.0 so u can get a noisy exhaust lol
the 2.3 turbo idea is very good too
it all depensd on your bank account man lol

The motors for 83 -88 rangers were off the top of my head, the 2.3L, 2.8L, and 2.9L, they also had a 2.0L and a 2.2L in the earlier years but i believe those were diesels. You can swap in a 3.0L (probably not a good swap in motor), the 4.0L (most chosen because of the power), or from other vehicles the most common swaps are 5.0L swaps from mustangs and f150's, the 351w, and 2.3T from mustangs or turbo coupes.

is there a 4.0 i can swap in is what ur saying i can do?...5.0 would take some welding?...

any ranger or explorer 4.0 could be swapped easily
ull need some custom work to fit the 5.0, but yeah it can be done

Well another 2.3L is more practical seeing as your truck already has it. but a 4.0L you will need a donor vehicle with the harness and stuff, then get the engine/trans and preferrably the rear end.

a lima 2.3 huh sounds wussy lol...

QUOTE]

Those Lima 2.3's are quite stout & tourquey, espeaclly when backed by a stick. Backed by an auto, they're real dogs.

I've had no qualms w/ my 4-banger Ranger. Look it it this way, a 2.3 Ranger is less wussy that a guy in a VW Cabrio!

The Lima 2.3 is bulletproof.

or is that the famous top for ford motors around those times hehe

?
