What brand Oil?

I cant tell the difference between anyone of them so I get the cheap s**t

I usually get the Napa 5w30, and a Napa filter unless we made a run up to Walmart then its the fram filter. Next oil change is going to be 5W30 Valvoline Full Synthetic (because it was $25 compared to $20 with regular napa and I live in what is concidered Xtreme conditions i guess) and a Fram Tough Guard filter.

Mobil 1 0w-30 Fuel Economy Formula, Mobil 1 filter. I plan on running the oil for the full 7500 miles that Ford says I can.

Mobil 1 5w-30, mobil 1 filter. I understand amsoil to be pretty good also.

Valvoline 10w-30 Most of the time in the expe, ranger, and mustang. I use max life syntec blend on all of them. stang 84k miles, ranger 188k + miles, expe 125k miles. Oil works good for all of them.

I used to swear by Castrol GTX until I noticed the Chevy burning it off excessively. I just recently switched to Mobil 1 10w30 high mileage (full synthetic) and have noticed that it doesn't burn off as fast. Oil change intervals are at 3,000 mi. I use mobil 1 5w20 (also full synthetic) on the b2300 and change it every 5,000 mi. I use k&n oil filters on both of the gas vehicles.

for the Rabbit, I use Mobil Delvac 1300 15w40 (high zinc conventional) and the hugely enormous high pressure Bosch filter. It gets changed every 3,000 miles. I used to use Delo 400 but, like the Chevy, the Rabbit was burning it off too fast. Since switching to the Delvac, I haven't noticed any oil consumption whatsoever. It's funny, the "oil-burner" Rabbit now uses less oil than the Chevy.

My new rebuild engine in my 1987 Ford 2.0L Ranger: Mobil 5w-30 (syn)

My old (working ECC-IV BTW) 2.8 V6 in a 1984 Ranger: Valvoline 10w-30(con)

My 1996 Suzuki Quad Runner: Valvoline 10w-40(con)

The 2001 Cub Cadet: 10w-30 conventional quaker state
The 2006 Troy Built tiller: 30w penzoil

The 1995 MTD push mower: 30w Penzoil with a "touch" of STP oil treatment.:icon_thumby:

All gearboxes and differentials: NAPA 80w-90 (in the white bottle)

I use 3-in-one oil on my beard trimmer, my pocket knives, and various light oil applications.

How is the Amsoil? I use Valvoline or motorcraft. Pennzoil is no good.

I like it, but i don't know if it's the best there is. I just use it because if i use their filter, they guarantee it for 25K or one year, which ever comes first. I'm going to do an oil analysis when i drain it in a few more months to see if it's really doing what they promise, and worth the cost.

Motorcraft FL1A filter
Valvoline 5W30 dino

also have used Castrol 5W30..

think the engine runs a tad smoother with the Valvoline...:icon_thumby:

It's probably just me, but I've always used the cheapo Exxon one. If you're wondering, yes, engine on f150 has 300K+ miles and still runs great. Tranny is another whole mess though.

I actually never noticed this, but a while back, went to a Advanced auto parts, and the guy was showing me that they had some Shell oil on sale, but then the manager comes and tells me that if I was going to buy a Shell oil, to just pick up the "advanced auto" name brand since it was the same thing and even though Shell was on sale, it was still more expensive than the Advanced. Shurely enough, looked in the back of box, and both Advanced and Shell came from the same place. Heck, the advanced box even said "Oil processed by Shell Oi Refineryl"

yep other stores do that too.. NAPA brand oil is actually Valvoline..

my 88(2.9) ranger has 10-30 castrol blend(50syn/50con) some lucas oil stabiliser and i got a K&N oil filter(holds about half a quart more oil).

my now lifted 06 chevy truck (4.3) has mobil clean 7500 5-30 with a fram filter. next change is going to have lucas stabiliser and maybe lucas 5-30 with fram filter(gonna see how that works)

my 83 (2.8) rackbody has a quart of lucas, a quart of 40w and 10-30 is the rest with napa gold filter.

Castoral Syntec Blend 5w-30

Napa Gold 1516 Filter

Truck has 161k , Engine has 102k

This oil in it now has been in it for 5k miles , including a trip to West Virginia and back , Sutersville , PA and a breakdown halfway home , and New Jersey and back , and she has a slight leak comin out of the rear main seal

Mobil 1 0w-30 in the Ranger, Supertech synthetic 5w-30 in the Explorer, Motorcraft filters.
