What a Hard Ass

That's a lot of kills...I wonder who he is.

he looks like an advertisment for the war to me....not a real pilot :dunno:

That's pretty impressive.

Richard Bong was from not too far away from me (70 miles or so), he had 40 kills. Was killed test flying a jet on the same day Hiroshima was bombed.

Check out this guy!

The gentleman is Col. Francis Grabeski; a true American Hero. He was a WWII and Korean War pilot.

If you ask me, there were so many out there. Imagine climbing into a plywood plane with a radio that was off and on, no real radar, no GPS, still using the sextent to shoot the stars at night to know your position like they did on the old sailing ships and having to go out over 4000 miles of open ocean to some little Island and no landmarks on the way. Today we don't leave home without our cell or a GPS system for a lot of you.

did he fly a bII with wings

People like him make me so proud to be American! They fought so we can live on and do the same for our children. Now that's a real man.

FYI wikipedia is the worst place to find reliable information. anyone can go and edit that information and it is not monitored by anyone so therefore it is not a reliable source....

sorry to be the nag.

thats why you check the external links and references....they are listed right there.

most wiki articles are just a copy and paste job from other sites.

Russia's planes were so "good" that the US reject P-39 (and later P-63) looked good to them. They wouldn't have been a match for a well trained pilot in a BF-109.
