What 5spd trans will hook to a 4.0?

My 4x4 4.0 5spd 93 ford ranger transmission just recently messed up wont engage 3rd and 4th gear and all i can seem to find are 2.9 trans that are 4x4 5spd will this hook up in the position of the 4.0 trans?

Any M5OD will bolt right up. You can find them in any 1990-2011 ranger that have a 5 speed tranny 2wd or 4x4 doesnt matter.

Um...No! He will need an M5OD-R1 from a 2.9 or a 4.0 that is already 4x4 unless he wants to change over the mainshaft from the 2wd to be a 4x4 transmission. The 4x4 mainshaft is shorter than the 2wd version. The bellhousings are not removable between the transmissions therefore the 2.3 and 3.0 will not work unless he wants to change out the internals.

The real question is...why own a lowered 4x4? Never could understand why people lower 4x4s, Edges, Sports and use 50 series low profile tires.

What conversion? This isn't a conversion, it's a replacement. If you have a 4.0 with a 5-speed it already has an M5OD.
