haha hey that rymed

anyways my truck wont go into third, we drain the gear oil and there are pieces of gear on the magnetic plug, i heard from a very experienced mechanic that it was blown but idk what do you think?
 
buy new trans...
 
yeah thats what i was thinkin
 
keep driving it. thats normal. once 2nd gear goes then its time to get a new.
 
Pull it and rebuild it. Most people are intimidated by xmissions but they are just mechanical devices. A 5 sp is simple to rebuild. gears,synchros and seals.If you would tackle heads then you can do A 5 sp.:icon_cheers:
 
sounds to me like 3rd toast. time to A) rebuild or B) new trans. one mite be cheaper then the other

You have a 1995 truck and you had gear oil in the trans? There's your problem. :fie:
 
whatever the hell that was, it was purple
 
im sure, it was burple dark burple
 
it being purple could be that someone added syncro mesh or one of those additives that supposely help shifting, just and idea tho i have ran into that numerous times working on vehicles. so it wont go into 3rd at all? even with the engine off? could be something to deal with the 3rd syncro, gear ect.
 
well it wouldn't even go into the third position


but i fixed it (if you wanna call kicking it into submission fixing it) now it will go into 3rd every time
 
so how'd ya fix it?
mine won't go into third or fourth.
