I have heard a few cases of people being sued to win rights over web names.

Lessee. "Ranger" was a spacecraft series (early robotic moon missions). There is the obvious US Army use. It appears to be a company name for a radio manufacturer and a line of boots. It's the name of a big supercomputer at UT Austin. It was the name of an aircraft carrier. It was to be a Hubble-telescope-servicing robot before the space shuttle flights were reinstated. It's a really annoying Japanese-derived TV series and toy line. It's a brand of canoe (one would think a boat manufacturer would REALLY get pissed about that one). It's an electric scooter.

If this is true, then it is ridiculous. The facts are, you can pull a Ranger boat with a Ranger pickup with a polaris Ranger in the bed and a forest ranger riding with you, so they can kiss my @ss.
