Welded Washers For Body Lift ??

I am thinking about fabing my own body lift. Is this legal and safe to do? If so About how many do I use or the measurements of a 2 in body lift spacer? Will I run into any problems?

Just a quick google search for "body lift blocks", I found 2" blocks for $3 each... Now is it really worth it to weld together a stack of washers, steel tubing and washers, etc?

36 dollars and a little bit of work compared to welding washers and alot of work in measuring I would say buying the blocks thank you for the info never thought of checking for just the blocks.
