I have a strange idea : what 320 hp/320 lbs torque would feel in a ranger ... with an all aluminium engine and transmission combo would be less than 500 lbs running weight ? :icon_twisted:

I just happen to have a 2.0L Subaru STI JDM engine that i'm presently rebuilding and a 5mt subaru transmission that i'm converting to RWD

to the non believer, I'm in the last step of finishing a pontiac firefly swap with a 2.5 L h4 subaru engine and AWD subaru systeme so fabricating things aren't a probleme :icon_welder:

so now what do you think of my new projet ? and how should I call the thing ?

first in line for what i'm sure (no offense) will be deemed as a fail... not sure why, but i see it happening

pics and LOL, maybe call it the SubaRanger

Is a flat four going to fit between the front suspension?

when the damm thing is gonna be ass kicking i'll post complet build picture and a vid of the truck embarassing a mustang :icon_thumby:

What ever happened to this idea? I have this itch that I want to scratch soooooo bad. I want to do the entire subaru drivetrain under ranger sheet metal. What is happening? Who has ever heard of such a thing? Has it ever been done? I want to try it. Who cares if you say it can't be done. I think its a great idea...all wheel drive Ranger that is dragging in the weeds!

Funny. Just today I was thinking of doing something totally opposite from this - I was thinking about how a 2.3l turbocoupe engine would fit into a Mazda Miata.

Eh, this is one of those ideas that is fun, and might be cool to see done, but I can think of so many better ways to make power than a Boxer engine.

They are great, until they get 5 or 10K miles on them and everything starts to leak. Also, I used worked with a guy who was big into Zuba-doos and had an old turbo wagon. Seems to me that thing busted off 5 or 6 Woodruff keys on the crank in the two years I worked there.

Well if a 5.0 fits a 2.3T should leave enough room for a water buffalo to get put in there too.
