weird noise

i own a 1994 ford ranger xlt and there is a weird noise that sounds like a spoon rattleing inside a tin can, but it only sounds when im starting the truck moving in first gear. it sounds like it's coming from the 4x4 casing but i can't be entirely sure. any ideas?
