i just replaced both pumps on my 87 b2 and they were pumping then just stopped out of no where hadnt driven anywhere or even fired it up then all of a sudden just stopped checked relay its good pulled both pumps and ran them off the truck both worked checke connections on them both good where to go from here?

Inertia switch. See if it's tripped, if it isn't check it for resistance.

Fuses too, but whatever the problem, its a good bet that your old pumps werent bad.

Do you mean you turned the key on, they started running and then stopped?
If so that is what they do until you start to crank the engine.

no it hummed when first installed and then it doesnt do nothing at all now, and your meaning checking resistance on the inertia switch or at the pumps

check out my post IN TANK FUEL PUMP from a few days ago.it might be of some help. mine was the connector at the Inertia switch.:icon_cheers:

where did u get the new connector? and did you replace the switch to or just the connecter

Went to the jy and cut one out of a 1986 b2. They bill it as a pig tail. About 4 bucks. Make sure you match the year. I started to use one out of an 89 but it was completely different than my 86. The switch was fine. That’s how I found the bad connector. Took the lead loose from the one on the fire wall and ran the fuel pump a then shook the inertia to see if the ball would easily move, the ball stayed put but the pump would start and stop. Did continuity check from the spade to the wire and found the open short. At the crimp of the spade. Only 2 wires were holding the one side of the of the spade out of 10 strands. prob a defect at build time. :icon_surprised:
