Weird clutch problem...anyone else ever have this?

Once in awhile, when I step on the clutch to start the truck, it does a weird thing...sometimes it won't come back up as quick as I let it up. Sometimes it doesn't come back at all until I step on it lightly a few times. Sometimes it feels like there is a block of wood under the pedal and I can't press it down.

Always when 'cold' at the first start up of the day.

I popped off the inspection cover and had a helper step on the clutch, I couldn't see much, except the plate sliding.

Any clue where to begin here?

Also, I did check all the moving parts under the dash and lubed them. I did pull a piece of heavy tape out, and the problem seemed solved for a few weeks, now it's back. I'll look for more tape today. The plastic rod (clutch master cylinder push rod?) seems to be aligned and not crooked or binding.

You might try bleedig the line...there is a bleeder screw on the transmission (slave cylinder) and if that doesn't work it may be either the master or the slave...but probably the master by the sound of the pedal movements (sticking or hard)...

I vote master as well. Is there any audible noise from under the dash?

No noises from under there...there was a light squeek at first, but after I lubed up everything, it stopped.

I'll look at my Haynes manual and bleed the cylinder today.
