So I just transported a Ducati Hypermotard in my truck. First bike I have put in the bed. Only one problem, the ramp dented the inside part of my tailgate. I don't have a bedliner yet and I was planning on painting one on. Not sure if that will make the lip any stronger. I think it bent it because we had the bike on the ramp for about 5 mins as we was trying to find the key to move his car.

You think I should just get a bedliner section for the tailgate to prevent it from denting/damaging the tail again?

well my tailgate is bent to hell, i can tell you it is made of thin guage steel like the rest of the bed, you may be able to pop the dent out. a plastic liner will simply pop the dent in and pop out covering the damage. my suggestion would be 1/8 in diamond plate, that wont budge. you can even use the same screws that hold the latch cover on to attach it if you want, only one warning: slippery when wet. the diamond pattern will give you some traction, just dont spill any oil on it or have a wonderful friend butter it for you. if he does, ky his windshield wipers. thatll fix him.

Sounds like a personal run in you had with a friend huh ?? :icon_rofl:

he lubed my tailgate and i couldnt get a 4 wheeler on the trk, so i ky'd his door handles and windshield wipers. you want to talk about pissed off buddy. he grabbed the lube and got pissed and wanted to know who done it i said no clue but its kind of funny. well we went riding about a month later and got caught in the rain he turned the wipers on and was like WTF?!?! i busted out laughing and owned up to it and hes like how are we going to get that shiznit off of there? i said its ky water soluble let the rain work it out. parked it and let it rain on it and worked it off in about 2 mins piece of cake, then went to the carwash and go the rest of it off, lets just say he dont mess w/ my trk anymore....

wasnt trying to steal the thread but that apparently looks like the best option on the tailgate, that or just leave it down when your transporting stuff. hope that helped.

:icon_rofl: That is funny!

I was thinking of doing a roll on bed liner so I don't know how that would look with just the diamond plate on the tail. I will consider it though. Sounds like my best alternative. I normally wouldn't care but I plan on transporting bikes to the track quite often. Thanks!

rhino line the diamond plate, seen it done b4, while your at it you might even want to roll on bedline the lower quarter of the trk, it looks good too, at least on the trk i seen it on in the lot at work looked good.
