Spraying WD40 on things such as sensors and the dizzy help to repel water as well

will help dry it out, if it's wet, but won't do anything to keep it dry...

What I used to do is cut up a piece of an old bike innertube and snap it over the seam, it works to seal the cap to the distributor and comes off easily.
