I cant find any info about normal or reverse thread on the 2.8. I just keep finding mixed info or 2.9 info.

The threads on every one of these will follow the direction the fan turns. In other words, you wouldn’t want to rev up the engine and have the fan spin off.

I damaged a radiator when I shut off an IDI the first time after failing to tighten it properly. Engine just up and stopped like diesels do, but the fan kept spinning until it fell off the hub.

Air chisel... if you can get it in there. Usually I can get them off with the holding tool & wrench - mine are KD brand. Heat may help if you can get a propane torch down in there.

Only time I tried to pull separate one I had a hell of a time getting it loose, I was replacing the pump and the clutch, just needed to save the fan. Ended up giving up and cutting it apart to get at the fan, fan was sandwiched between the pump and clutch.

On any engine look at the fan blades
Looking down from the top, if the rear of the blade faces passenger side and front faces drivers side, then regular threads, left handed
Like this /
Left handed or regular threads, "Lefty loosey, Righty tighty"

If blade is opposite \ then right handed threads on fan clutch

As said with either you just need to break it loose, it is wedged from multiple starts over the years
A hard tap on the nut in the right direction will break it loose and it will easily spin off after that

Yes, that ^^^

I put a blunt drift punch on a good spot on the clutch and tap it with a hammer. That has always worked fine for me (and thus I've likely screwed myself for the next time . . . ).

1) it’s left handed threads
2) There are tools made to remove it

I bought a set of those, it was a "loaner" set from AZ, with THREE wrenches in the two wrench set.
I told the clerk about it and he looked in it and pushed it back to me.
Well, I kept it, but now I can't find it :D

I bought the wrenches to remove them. Kinda awkward to use but they have done the job many times.
