Well the Hub is back on the truck here I am all afraid to drive it again I don't need this especially if I sell that other truck tomorrow WAAAAA!

took it for a ride, seems okay no noise no clicks no buzz it was pretty loud & upsetting when it happened the other day.

Hub is fine. was too much grease near as I can tell. they have a sealed bearing so it really isn't needed.
I didn't sell the other truck that day,, but I did sell it last week

I've had the same problem. I read somewhere that the hubs shouldn't have any grease in them at all. Clean out all the grease them pour some atf in there just to get it wet then dump it out and let it drain for a minute. Haven't had a problem since.

Yep no grease needed, a slight bit applied with a brush to the splines is all that's really needed...but more so just some anti-seize to make it easier to take the hub off in the future.

They don't just lock themselves in, and even if it was locked in, they shouldn't make any noise and it don't hurt them to be locked in even if you aren't using the 4WD. Maybe its a good thing manual locking hubs have pretty much gone away because it seems to me like people think its funny to go to someone else's vehicle and lock one of their hubs in...not sure why they thinks its funny to do so or why they'd do it in the first place...probably because they have no damn clue what those knobs are for. Anyhow, having them locked in properly won't create any noise...if there is the hub is bad...and if perhaps someone was screwing with it as stated above possibly could have turned it so it was partially engaged and thus creating the horrendous noise as the hub either engaged fully or disengaged.

No, they do need a little bit of grease, but that's it. Just a VERY light film and no more. There are spinning parts in there and so need some lubrication (when unlocked and in 2WD).
