Walk of shame

I need help. I dropped a crate rebuild 3.0 into my 99 ranger with an automatic trans and 4wd. Engine runs beautifully and transmission worked fine before swap but now nothing happens when I put it into gear. I pulled the trans and double checked that the torque converter was seated properly then reinstalled but still nothing. It's kind of embarrassing because it's going to end up something stupid but I'm out of ideas. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Reconnect the linkage?

Did you refill the fluid?

You remembered to put torque convertor bolts...

And what the other guys said...

How much fluid should it take with the new torque converter?
Several. Look at the dipstick and hope you haven't spun the transmission dry long enough to toast it.

I should clarify, I didn't forget to put fluid in I'm just having trouble reading the dipstick. It's covered in fluid and I can't tell where the level is.

Check trans fluid level engine OFF
Then check again with engine running

If level didn't drop then pump is broken

OR
Disable spark, no start
Pull off either transmission cooler line, put pan(s) down
Crank engine, see if you get flow
If not pump is broken

There is no solenoid control needed for "in gear", its all mechanical, solenoids are for shifting gears when moving
Although do try manual shift to 1st, as a failed sprag can cause no movement in D and R

But with engine or trans removal and re-install a broken pump is the more likely issue
OR
No input shaft installed........................check your extra parts, lol

Lol the input shaft was definitely there. The pump is where I was leaning as well. I was just hoping the community mind could figure out a way where I didn't have to rebuild the transmission🤣🤣

Are you sure the torgue converter dropped in ALL the way?
I've had many feel like they dropped, but I kept spinning and pushing like a stubborn donkey and sure enough it drops in some more.

on some transmissions, if it is pulled/installed onto the block using the bell housing bolts without the torque converter being
lined up correctly/exactly, the converter is pushed in to the pump causing it to fail. then nothing will happen in any gear.
not saying this was how it was done but even if it was assembled the last inch or so like this, the pump will be toast
