Well, as I posted a couple weeks ago, I bought a set of Belltech 6400 shackles in an attempt to lift my explorer. Got around to it yesterday...all excited...to only be slapped in the face when I got under the truck.

As it turns out, the Explorer doesn't have a pin sticking out of the frame for the shackle to bolt to like the ranger/chevy frames do. It basically slides in on either side of the frame and the bolt goes THROUGH the entire assembly. :dunno:

Since the 6400 shackle is closed in on one end with a rubber bushing through it, it is instantly labeled as USELESS on the Explorer. Not impressed with this. :annoyed:

That sucks man!

Were those shackles pricey?:shok:

Ebay time.

They were only $70 tax and shipping included, but they were a special order item...not sure if my parts supplier will be able to take them back. :(

That's why all explorer owners use Warrior Shackles, not Belltechs. Check them out, they are a good product.

Yep. And the 1st gen Explorer was based upon the 2nd gen Ranger. In fact, from the dash and firewall forward, they use many of the same parts.

explorers have a wider rear frame spacing

so the leafs mount UNDER the frame rail, not next to it like a ranger

Explorer shackles are H shaped
