Has anyone used one of these heads with their 2.3 Lima turbo? What is the advantage of using the Volvo head over the regular Lima head? I was checking out some ebay vendors with Volvo head kits for use with Ford 2.3's and it just piqued my interest.

it's been done a few times. there are a couple guys at turboford.net that have done it. if you go there though, dont start a new thread asking this same question, they'll all jump down your throat and tell you to use the search function.

the volvo head is DOHC 16v

B234F head

Can you give me the link to the guy with the volvo heads please.

just go on turboford.org

pyropete is the guy in the for sale section that sells pretty much everything you need to do a swap.

I've had my complete engine sitting on the floor of my garage the past few years as I'm disgusted with my svo after having it in paint for 4 years and then getting rearended 2 weeks later only to have the guy's insurance company screw me over.

Its not that hard of a swap if you use a common sense approach to it.

For Sure. I Would LOVE to find one ready to bolt onto a ranger.
do you have to modify the ranger block or the volvo head to make it fit?

both but not really.

lol.

pull your head off the block and round out the rear water passages and then put freeze plugs in.

put freeze plug in the front water hole on the head. drill a hole in the rear of the cam tower and run an oil line that you splice in from the oil pressure sensor output. bolt down and do up a tensioner setup and weld up an exhaust manifold and make up an intake manifold.

like I said, all the info with pics are on turboford.org

and this is just one way to get it to fit.

They are cool.

I converted one for a guy over on turboford, and I have a damaged one sitting in my shop.

Ported they are the highest flowing head available for the 2.3.

My friend does. He just bought one from Ebay last week. I might say that, the head looks off together with his ride.
