Vinyl vs. Carpet, opinions and recommendations.

I do still run floor mats though in the front (generic cheapos, weather tech doesn't make any custom ones for my truck).

:icon_confused: Just checked, they offer them for the 2004-2010 Rangers, but not earlier ones. As far as I am aware the floor pans didn't really change on the extended cabs from 1994-2010. There may have been some variation for the 2 door vs 4 door, but it wouldn't have affected front floor mats.

I wonder why they don't include the earlier model Rangers? Did something change, or did they just not want to bother with checking and guaranteeing fit on those?

Huh. That is very odd.
Part of me is tempted to call them up and ask. Every other time I've dealt with weathertech their customer service has been top notch.

Saw this old thread and figured I’d add something. If you’ve already got the Kilmat down, vinyl can be a nice match since it’s easy to clean and doesn’t trap moisture. The main tradeoff is it can feel hotter in summer. Has anyone here tried the newer padded vinyl kits? I’ve been curious if they soften the feel enough without losing the easy cleanup.

I see you have the UK and Alaska listed in your profile and you're joining us via a VPN server in Poland. Mind telling us what TRS event you've participated in so that we know you're not a spammer?

Hey, its a valid concern.

How many times have you been wadded up under the dash of your truck fixing wiring or something and thought "this wouldn't be so bad if the darn floor wasn't so hot?"

My factory vinyl was padded. Padding acts like a big sponge, vinyl ensures it never dries out until the floor pans form their own drains. I dont know about the softness because I can't touch it while seated in the truck. I put a carpet kit in it as at the time only black vinyl was available and with floor liners I literally never touch the floor in my truck anyway.

100% agreed on that...

I am just smelling a spammer, some of them seem to come in with legit questions and information and then start posting links to questionable websites once the discussion is started. This particular user account has a lot of red flags.
