vacuum advance?

ok i got the dura spark swap done now today i bolted on my new Motorcraft 2150 carb and notice 2 problems ! where do i run the vacuum from the vacuum advance to the carb from the distribuitor? and I have this strange choke ,it has some sort of hook up for a tube i think it is A heated choke tube , and the 1 wire hook up for the power wire ,I may just put a hand choke on it and foget about the eletric choke but i cant find any diagrams to where i should run vacuum hoses to my carb ,The carb i got is a new one from advance auto for a 79 ford f150 V8 2150 non feedback ,any one have any idea where these vacuum hoses should run?thanks
 
for the advance you want a "ported" vacuum connection. it will be close to the bottom of the carb. i believe on the 2150's its a long skinny tube.

and you probably have one of those chokes thats meant to draw air through a coiled tube in the egr crossover to get the heat to release the choke. toss it and go manual.
 
The fitting for the choke heater is a vacuum leak you can use a cap from a Home A/C system to plug it or find a plug with the same thread. The choke thermostat you just use a key on ignition wire to open the choke. Set your timing at 10 degrees with no vacuum to the dizzy and depending on your carb usually the ported vacuum is next to the drivers side idle air screw on the base of the carb or on the base ofd the carb pointing toward the passenger front tire. If you have trouble getting it to idle good on ported vacuum you can allways just use manifold vacuum using the vacuum tree next to the dizzy. I ran mine for three months on ported vac and three months on manifold it ran alot better on manifold and cold starts were better also. You want it to idle at 17 or better inches of mercury (vacuum pressure) but either way will not hurt the engine manifold or ported it is up to you.
 
i got my vacuum from Wal Mart and paid in full.

lol. for 89.99 it works really good. even got a dog hair cleaning attachment for my yellow lab who sheds more then Gilbert Grapes mom in Fried Green Tomatoes.

yea i think ill put a pull choke on it to save trouble thanks for the input man ill let ya know how it goes :icon_thumby:

Your still gonna want to plug the vacuum leak on the flare fitting for the choke heater tube you can stuff it with epoxy.
