did they put v8's in explorers any year?

95 started the V8 option with the Explorer's. 95-01 had the 5.0 pushrod and the 02 and newer had the 4.6 SOHC.

All of the 96 model years with the V8 were AWD??? Or all V8 Explorers with the V8 are AWD?? If the latter then I disagree!

I believe that all V-8 Explorers were AWD and automatic, no matter what year. Did you find a rare exception? Wouldn't have been a factory job I believe.

03 the other day that was a push button 4x4 with a V8

if you look at the buttons the 4x4 says auto so in effect it is like awd and 96-01 the 5.0 v8 explorers were awd 02+ 4.6 v8 mountaineers are awd and at best 02+4.6 v8 explorers are at best auto 4x4 i havent been at my dealer lately and it is closing so all of this is to the best i can remember
