upgrading shifter

i have a 89 w a automatic a4ld and it has a column shifter, i want to know if i can get rid of the column shifter and install a b&m or hurst floor shifter?

Yes. I've seen people convert column shifts to the floor before. I'm just not sure on how to go about it since I have a gen. 1 ranger and already have the floor shifter.
