Unkown Switches

Sounds like there is a short somewhere.... I would start tracing wires and get the volt meter out and just start seeing what you find.... Sounds like someone half-assed the job.. Better pictures would tell 1000 more words. I'd be checking the weights on the trailers before you buy one. a 20' travel trailer can get really heavy and an old ranger will struggle with anything over 5000 pounds.... Some rv dealers won't let you leave their lot if they feel it is unsafe, I know I wouldn't.... Just FYI

FYI... the switch that the white and red wires go to is either a Standard SLS40 or a SLS43, depending on if it normally open or normally closed.

Someone MAY have tied that into the starting circuit to prevent starting the engine if parking brake is not set. Just a safety thing. Obviously someone has done a lot of electrical modifications and their work was not premium quality. You have some work to do to get all this straightened out.

I would recommend getting a copy of the EVTM for your truck. Then you will know how things should be wired and you can clean up this mess one circuit at a time and make it right.

Still do not understand why the line lock has to be connected to the battery in order to start the truck. But the question was answered, than you all for your input.
