so i cant find a sending unit for my 83 ranger so i was wondering if anyine had tried the universal ones from autozone...they work on the depth of your tank
i just went ahead and grinding off the old lock ring, then i took a plate of stainless and tin snipped a lock ring sized circle out of it and drilled a hole in the middle, then i sanded the fragments and rust off the old fuel line and ran it thru the hole...now with much attention to detail you can weld or jb weld this plate to the line to fit into the lock ring...then you simply pop out the plug for the gauge and splice the wires together, and in some cases you may need to bend the float rod to make it measure the correct amount of fuel if its off a diff. vehicle...so basically you can use any sending unit on an 83 ranger to some extent
