Underdrive Pulleys

Does the alt pulley actually do this though, mine works just fine and I am pushing 1500 watts.

Well the size of the Alt pulley determines the speed that the Alternator will rotate at any given rpm. Like I said its more crusial at idle than anything else.

i did just a crank pulley and would do it again, its about the only thing ive done to my 3.0 that had a noticable increase

Had anyone noticed any cooling issuies since it does make the waterpump spin slower?

I haven't. I was stuck in traffic hardly moving for 45 minutes a week or 2 ago and it did just fine. Not sure how this+ an e fan would do though. :dunno:

I dont mean to hijack this thread but Ive never seen these things before but it judging from what you guys have said i think i might try this. Im not running any special audio or anything so i might just buy the crank pulley for $80 and see how it does. Im assuming the serpentine belt will need to be changed then but how do i know which belt to buy since its a different size then?

There is a belt size guide at stuffforyourranger.com on the belt page.

The Underdog underdrive pulleys are gold. Wayne's great to work with and Fred at Rougue has dyno results showing an 8hp and 11 ft/pds of torque redirected to the rear wheels. I've got the full set of pulleys and love them. I'm also running a 16" perma cool fan that draws 9amps and flows 2900 cfm. I've had nothing but fun with them.

I will throw a set on after I get my dual exhaust put on. In the process of saving up now but I am also finishing up my motorcycle. So the ranger is going to take a back seat for a moment so I can get back on 2 wheels again. Man do I miss riding!

I know the alternator has a pulley for it, but what is the effect on the AC compressor and the cooling efficiency at idle.

No cooling issues whatsoever. A couple weeks ago it was 100+ for several days, the truck stayed nice and cool with the A/C blowing cold.

I get my pulley tomorrow. Kind of excited after all the positive things said about it.

Got it on and installed. Can definatly notice it running better. It seems to be so smooth and flows through the rpm's were as before after 3 grand it just sounded like it made noise and did nothing. Can definatly feel a little more umph out of it.

I just installed mine this morning after having the pulleys sitting on my shelf for 6 months. I really wish that I had done this when I first got the pulleys. It's a noticeable difference, but as others have said, don't expect your truck to become lightning quick.
