i have though about the same thing in the past , i know very little about welding but from reading quite abit i would think a 110volt welder would work ok , the hobart 140 is rated i think for 5/16'' steel , the other thing is it seems theres not many quality 220volt mig welders for under $800Damn there's a Hobart 140 near me for 200...wish I had the money lol. Kinda thread jackin but I have a question. Is there any advantage to gettin a 220v for just welding around the house? A 110 should be plenty right? I want to make some bumpers after I'm confident enough in my welding....and after I find a welder of course
