Uh Oh.....MPG controversy....

thats what I like about my speedometer being off, “65” is litterly the new “55”. (well depending on tire size im running, im only off 7 mph with the 225’s right now)

I can't drive........55

this is hilarious that this conversation still exists.... the lawsuit is only people hoping to get free shit or a MINI PAYDAY.
it aint gonna happen....
Last I looked Ranger was and is Top of class if you compare apples to apples

Our speed limits here in Az, are typically 75 mph--(80 in [laces in Utah) I've put 3500 miles on my new Supercab, and my average MPG is 25. If I fill on the hwy; during a extended trip, 28 mpg is no problem! And it should be said, that it seems the 75 mph speed limit here, is just a "suggestion"!

IDK but the highway speed in most places is still 55. Interstates are 70 in most places.

Curious where you're located. Here in Colorado the Interstate speed limit is 75 and on most of the 2 lane rural highways the speed limit is 65 mph. It's way too fast IMO....... 130 mph closing speed on a 2 lane highway is just nuts. And we've seen the carnage associated with this lunacy.

I'm averaging 25 mpg in our 2019 Ranger. And I routinely do an "Italian Tune-up" every time we drive the truck. That being said our truck was built in July 2019. I'm wondering if Ford has re-tuned the trucks with an eye toward mpg's over performance?

Here in Texas, we have 75 MPH speed limits on some 2-lane rural highways. Depending on the county you're in, it can go up and down from 65, 70, and 75.

Around here, a good majority of the two-lane U.S. and State Routes are 45-55 mph. The Interstates tend to be 65-70 mph. Because of where I normally need to go, I tend to use the Interstates more than the U.S. or State routes. I guess it depends on the part of the country people are from as to what theirs is.

Trying to get good mileage from a Ranger is pretty much hopeless. My old '90 twin plug 2.3 2WD 5sp would do 29 running fairly slow on the highway, which was not bad. But it was gutless and had tall gears (don't remember what they were anymore). Most of the time it was maybe 20.

From what I've seen it is very tough to get any decent economy out of any 2 valve engine, which is most Ranger engines. I could probably nurse my 3.0 auto to 20mpg on the highway if I ran slower, but that's as good as it gets. Even with more sophisticated engines the aerodynamics will kill the mileage.

Which is why I'm no longer using mine as a daily driver. My present car has more power and even without trying it's always over 30. If I worked at it a bit I'd be at 35. The non-performance version would be well over 40mpg.

At present fuel prices (quite high historically) people just don't care, which is why all the small cars are being discontinued.

There has been a time or two that I've gotten 21 mpg with my 4.0 SOHC on the highway going 70 mph. That was with the OEM tires and before I installed the windshield visor. For an older V-6 engine in a 4X4 truck, that really isn't bad. Now that I have the visor on and the OEM tires have been replaced with larger BFG KO2s, I doubt I'll ever see mileage like that again. I have hit 19 mpg on a couple trips but those were more local and with winter tires. The visor was installed right before my last deployment, so I don't have a good handle on what the new mpg numbers are yet.

I have noticed the the mpg has gone down on the 2019 as well now that it has winter tires on. The best I've seen since they were installed was 21 but they are new and I've installed a bed cap, which may also effect mileage. I need to get some time and mileage under my belt with the new setup in order to get some hard statistics on what my particular truck is going to get.

This is why I bought a duratec. Mileage ain't great around town but she cruises on the highway at high 26+ mpg.

I was originally looking for a Duratech/5spd, as it's the only modern 4 valve engine ever offered in a Ranger. Now that I'm not trying to daily drive it any more I'm happier with the 3.0/auto.

Today, we drove out to Quartzsite, Az

https://www.desertusa.com/cities/az/quartzsite.html

Awesome flea market, and rock/mineral show---people from all over the country, selling everything from guns, to antique spurs, made of silver! Anyway, the trip was roughly 200 miles, and I filled up/set the speed control to 70 mph, let her go-computer displayed 30mpg after 80 miles!!!! Best mileage I've ever had from any truck!!:yahoo:

2wd or 4wd?

4 X 2 --I believe it will do better, on a longer highway mileage run, as was still going up, when we reached our destination.

We did a 300 mile trip in the Ranger on Wednesday... and averaged 27.7 mpg in our FX-4 SuperCab. We run 91 Octane Shell gas... truck has about 5,500 miles on it at this point.
