I am pretty close to having the parts I need for my 8.8 swap in my '86. But I got a quick question about what flange yoke to get for the 8.8. I understand that the Ranger comes stock with 1310 u-joints, correct? What about a '76 F150? I will be using the drivetrain out of that in the Ranger, and want to go with the same u-joints on both ends of my rear driveline and do not want to use adapter joints when the drivetrain swap is finished.

The guy at the local driveline shop said that the 1310 u-joint is the correct one for the '76 and that there is a flange yoke available for 1310.

So I guess my question is, if I order a 1310 8.8 flange yoke, will it be the same size as the yoke on my 205 transfer case? Not that I don't believe him, it's just that I've heard that 1330 and 1350 were also used back then and I don't want to get the wrong flange and end up having to use an adapter joint.

U-joints are frickin confusing.

You can get a 1310 to 1350 adapter joint. Two of the caps on the joint are 1310s and the other opposing two are 1350s.

Yeah, I've seen those and will be running one temporarily until I get my 302/NP435/205 swapped in.

I just want to have one size of u-joint on the rear driveline when all the swapping is done so I want to make sure I get the right flange yoke and don't have to run adapters.

It's only confusing because your making it that way. :thefinger:

Get a caliper, and go out and measure the u-joints or even just the yokes. Then, look here. About 3/4 of the way down the page is a heading that says "Driveshaft U-joint Series / Sizes". There's a nice little diagram there that shows you what you need to measure.

No guessing or pulling hair out involved.

Ok, cool...that cleared up a few things. I guess I was just overthinking things... as usual
