U-bolts for 28 spline 8.8

I can't find what size -bolts i need... It's from an '01 Ranger if that matters, I don't think it does. In the tech library I see the 31 spline 8.8s have 3 1/4" tubes, but I know the 28 spline axles taper towards the end. I though the taper was after the spring mount, but I ordered some 3 1/4" bolts and they are way too big...

I am certain that 28 spline 8.8s are 3" at the spring perches. 31s are as the tech library says 3.25".

I dont know what size on the threads you need though.


Do the bolts you recieved measure out to 3 1/4 or did they send you the wrong ones.

The 28 spline axles are 2.75"

I haven't actually measured the bolts, but I ran the PN and they are 3 1/4". I don't have micrometers, but I eyeballed the axle at the perch at 2 5/8" so I'll go with what Junkie said. And it was a kit so it came with all hardware so thread size doesn't matter as long as they go through the spring plates.
