Two 4.0s getting hot

Yeah I would not reuse either.Like you said its apart anyway,no excuse to take a chance like that.Too much work involved!I priced them from ford and it was 4 times the cost of the felpro. The felpro was thick fiber/paper type and the ford is made of aluminum I believe and fits like a glove.I liked the ford upper to lower intake gasket better as well.It was a precise cut and also fit like a glove. The felpro I had to open some of the holes and trim some areas a little to get to fit right. It wasnt too far off but not what I expected from felpro.I will most likely bite the bullet the second time and buy from the dealer.I had no gripes with the head gaskets in the kit. They seemed to be spot on.

I've never had a prob from felpro, but I've not been in a 4.0L either, yet...No doubt my 215k 4.0L will see some surgery after it gets a dose of twin turbos with 12-15psi of boost...

I dont know.I saw one driven into a junkyard last year that had 355,000 on it.The motor was fine,or seemed to be.Rust was what got it!My friends has 215,000 miles. It runs good also but he says it needs lifters.I think its the rockers.I think they are tougher than alot of people want to give them credit for.

Mine runs awesome, no probs, I have a slight exhaust leak, but thats it. I was refering to when I twin turbo my 4.0L, I know I will have to replace some head gaskets, I already plan to use some copper gaskets with studs to compensate for the extra cylinder pressure.

My 4.0 was running hot..changed radiator, water pump, thermostat several times even replaced sending unit...finally i changed the fan clutch and problem went away.

The clutch was another thing I checked out and I had a friend that works at ford check on it also as I am a big fan of having an extra set of eyes look something over.We both thought it was working fine as I had picked a new clutch up on ebay with intentions of replacing it if there was any question.I should have tried that anyway since I had a new one but the way this thing gets hot I dont think its tied into that at all.Who knows, its too easy not to try.

If it was the fan clutch you shouldn't overheat when you're driving nice and easy at about 35mph as you would have airflow over the radiator. If you don't have any coolant leaks, no coolant in your oil or coming out your exhaust I would have a hard time believing you have a warp or gasket issue. Sure sounds like lack of flow. You didn't somehow put the belt on wrong where you have the water pump turning the wrong way did you? Not sure if that's even possible on the 4.0.

I assumed you already tried the clutch. Since you already have it, I'd swap the clutch and see if thats it.

It overheats whether being driven or not.Even when its cold outside! As fas as belt misplacement I am sure anything is possible given the right person but mine is installed correctly. No coolant in the oil and there wasnt any either before I tore it apart the first time in spite of the number 4 cylinder being full of coolant and it had layed in that cylinder for over 7 months before I caught it.I have seen several motors that were warped that didnt let coolant into the oil or out the exhaust. It all depends on how bad they are warped and where they are warped. That is why I feel that my motor might be warped. It doesnt take much to make them get hot and I have checked and rechecked every other possibility or at least I think I have.

Does it build a lot of pressure in radiator quickly?? i have seen cracked blocks that will put extreme pressure in radiator(tries to push antifreeze out of radiator with cap off especially if engine is cold) and exhaust not steam.

Just normal pressure in the radiator. That is untill it starts getting hot.I dont let it get that far.

Try the clutch (since you already have it) and see what that does

Were gonna try it as soon as this rain quits!
