Has anyone put a turbo on a perkins diesel ranger?

you can get the stock turbo on lmctruck i think

No no no... The stock turbo diesels were 85-87 mitsubishi 2.3L. The perkins was used in the 83-84 and was 2.2L non-turbo.

As far as turboing it, it'd probably be like any other diesel. Fab up some exhaust piping, throw a turbo on, turn up the injector pump, hammer down on the skinny pedal and blow black smoke 'till she blows. But I'd be cautious messing with the injector pump on one of those things. It's not like replacements are cheap or easy to find...

were those turbo perkins the same as jeep used in their 80's cherokee's? i happened to test drive one back then and was reasonably impressed with it's performance. accellerated well up a 7% grade, above 4500' elev., in 5th gear.

on second thought i believe jeep used the Pugeot diesels. but impressive nevertheless. there were sure a lot of them running around when i was stationed in europe back in the 70's.
