Turbo Muffler

and btw, a muffler and a resonator are not a restrictive as a turbo muffler they are both STRAIGHT THROUGH. tell me how restrictive is that? not that much at all. as opposed to going through chambers and insulation, and baffles. hhhmmm

tsudo or N1 style canister... whatever. Turbo's do not want back pressure. Sure, If you have a big turbo, you dont want any wastegate induced boostcreep, but you really want as little as possible. Period. I've been dealing with turbo engines for more than a minute and raced under the Mazdaspeed banner (read sponsor) in a turbo charged 90 Miata. Thought I'd throw that out there before somebody decides to "mouth off" to me too.

Y'all stop being jerks, you know who you are, and be nice. No room for that on this forum. I can easily lock this down and ban those involved. It's only a friggen muffler discussion.

I wasnt calling you anything, I was asking a question....

I dont need to ask a turbo shop anything. You are absolutely right, the less backpressure the better on a turbo setup, no arguement here. The gist of MY point was that it would probably worth sacrificing a few HP to get the sound you want. You may not care, but im not going to run a Fart pipe on anything I have, I dont care if it gives me 50 extra HP.

And as far as "STRAIGHT THROUGH" mufflers go, you need to do a little research on muffler design and the effect acoustics have on flow, then youll understand that just because you can look through the muffler doesnt mean that there is no restriction.

One basic rule to go by, if it limits sound, it limits flow, so unless you straight pipe it, there is going to be restriction there, and I think you would be suprised how much restriction a straight through muffler actually has.

i understand that a straight through muffler has restriction to it. but not as much as a turbo muffler. thats all. you can put whatever you want on your vehical, its yours. im just making a suggestion. the guy asked for opinions on mufflers. i gave my $0.02. good day to you sir. im not gonna argue on this forum. i just wanted to give my input.

we all agree to disagree, and yes backpressure in a turbo system is a problem. back to my original question, since running w/o a cat is illegal what cat would you guys recommend that wouldnt kill the flow? just wondering since i dont want the cops up my ass every 2 seconds...

get a high flow from jcwhitney. there the same as the big name brand

just a quick note to everyone, not everyone is right and not every one has the same taste so just give ur opinions and advice and leave it at that.
Now jc whitney and jegs and summit provide these just depends on who u prefer.

i c just asking, anybody run a flowmaster 10 series b4? short but legal, little effect on pressure from what i can tell, just wanted to know if anybody has tried it. i like my fart cans but they got me a tkt from a dumbass cop said they werent mufflers (the box says they are and i havent seen him pull over a single 4 cylinder w/ them...) and i wouldnt mind being a lil dif.

haha me too. the cop told me that it was an altered exhaust and that its too loud. i told him the same thing i like being diff and what bout the lil imports and the chevys wit tyhe loud exhausts so.

here in la as long as your not pegging it in city limits your fine, at least not while the cops are looking...:D you just have that one ass that hears you two blocks away or doesnt like the fact that your setting off car alarms in the walmart parking lot and decides to give you hell. he was up my ass and i had to gas it to make a corner he flipped his lights that was it, needless to say i paid the 130 dollar tkt and went on about my business. its non moving here so it doesnt go on my insurance, skrew him.
