Yeah, That's what I was thinking too......pulling in air around the bleeder screw threads.
I might try some silicone grease, or just remove the boot and push the vinyl tube onto the bleeder.

The trick is to just barely crack the bleeder open. Just enough to get flow.

The threads are tapered like pipe threads. So the further you unscrew the bleeder, the more clearance there is to pull air through the threads.

The rubber nipple is fine. Remember, we're pulling a vacuum. So it's trying to suck the nipple tighter. It's fine.

The bleeders I've seen may be pipe thread, but not tapered. There is a conical end that does the sealing.

The Mityvac thing was new to me. And now I think I opened the bleeders screws a bit too much. I guess I won't worry about the rubber nipple then since Eric has more experience with Mityvac.

To answer Gump's question, I did replace the speed bleeders with conventional ones because I wasn't sure if they would work properly with a vacuum device.

I definitely want to run the Mityvac procedure again within the next 2 days or so. I'll follow up with that also

(By the way, the 'washboard road' brake pedal vibration and pulsation is completely gone now. It was the front brake overhaul I did last month)

Clean it? Check the directions. I just dump the canister out and hang the hose where it can drain for a while. I wouldn't want water in it in case some gets trapped and makes something corrode.

Tech support guy said I could actually vacuum water and a little dish detergent through the fluid line system.
But I had the same concern you do about that.
