Truckspotters

@Rick W in just a few more years...

So late this afternoon I went to harbor freight to buy some bungee cords.
I've been keeping the tools I use the most i.e. daily in a 5 gallon bucket.
I got tired of it sliding around in the bed of my truck.
So I got the bungee cords.

When I came out there was 3 Rangers in the packing lot.
There's a O'Reilly's Auto parts and a commercial kitchen appliance company that uses the same parking lot with harbor freight. My truck was closer to harbor freight. The other 2 Rangers were over by the kitchen appliance company.

My truck was facing away from them.
So I got in it and turned it around.
I was positioning to take pictures of both the other trucks in a way to where I didn't get neither license tags.
Then I noticed there was a guy sitting in one of them.
At that point I didn't want to make nobody mad so I decided to forget the picture I'm going to go talk to this guy.

We talked for about 10 minutes and I told him all about THERANGERSTATION.
I even told him my screen name.

Hopefully he has already checked TRS out already today.

Sorry no pictures guys

Today's sightings.

Saw this first 1 in the parking lot at Harbor Freight.
They was parked more in the O'Reilly Auto parts section so I do believe they was there.
Can't really tell from the picture but she's a step side.

Saw the second 1 when my brother and I was getting weighed to get paid at the junkyard/scrapyard.
He was coming in as we was getting ready to get paid.

I took this picture through the windshield that's why you can see some reflection in it

I live in Dayton Ohio.
I pulled up the website for
LKQ PickYourPart for Dayton this morning.

Here's what I found.

It is a 1994 step side 4x4
It was made available to the public just two days ago on Saturday.

These are not the pictures on LKQ's website.
I went there and took them.

I got 2 small parts from this truck for my truck.
And to be honest with everyone, when I saw how decent of shape this truck is in, it kind of almost had me in tears that it's at the salvage yard.
I wish I would have known the person who owned it before and could have bought it before LKQ did.

there's a 93 in my closest yard that looks like some ole widow drove it in - everything intact, no evidence of any issue, no rust, paint still good - that one hurt too..
police brotherhood/supporter/donor sticker on the camper top - not a thing wrong with it I could see.

I took these 3 pix for my "Unicorn Parts" thread... just in case someone wanted tan door 93-94 panels.

So Brain can you tell me why they stopped using the bigger stickers and started using those small ones with the barcode on it?

I don't understand it but now that I see it in your post with the numbers and stuff under the picture can we use our phones to scan that barcode and find out what it is?

that's an inventory system for the u-pull-it... I think it would be useless to anyone other than if they call atwood/greeley/windsor (the 3 yards close to me) or one of the other yards owned by the same mega parent and asked "if atw002282 is still in the system" - wont tell you how much it has been picked or anything else, I take a pic in case I have a failure on something and know that truck had it, call and ask if it is still there before driving an hour out of my way just to go see.

Edit:I know the big parent company owns hundreds of smaller junkyards cause I looked it up once upon a time... right now all I can find is that Cheyenne WY is owned by the same group and has the same website layout to a tee.
