Truck Shaking

I found a truck for sale for a few dollars, I spoke to a lady on the phone she said it runs but it shake really bad. What can this mean. The truck is a few hours away so I just dont want to drive up there for no reason any input will help.

Im no expert by any means but it would just mean a bad spark plug and timing etc.. If its really bad then I have no idea.. a simple tune up might solve your issue but I dont know. I would suggest finding someone who knows a decent amount about vehicles and have them take a look to see if it might be something major.

shaking can be about a million things. youll need to gather more information.

is this an engine shake? at idle? in gear? when you rev it?

is it a shake/vibration at speed? what speed? does it go away or get worse while turning or braking?

So when I spoke to the lady today she said it shakes while at idle speed, it blows black smoke and it only does like 20-30 mph. what can I do?

sounds like its running extremely rich, which is flooding the cylinders and causeing misfires. this could be as simple as a bad fuel pressure regulator, or as complicated as bad wiring, stuck injectors, etc.

still lots and lots of options as to what it could be.

not a common problem.

pull the vacuum hose off the FPR and see if theres fuel in it. test fuel pressure. perform a cylinder leakdown test. perform a compression test. perform a KOEO and KOER test. varify ECT sensor voltage coincides with actual coolant temp. varify engine is reaching operating temp. back-probe and monitor MAFS signal. back-probe and varify HEGO2 switching.

the list goes on.
