Truck bed camper shell

You care to explain what a toe is? Where are these toes exactly located?

We have the 98’ Ford Ranger extended cab 6 cylinder with the automatic transmission and we’re looking for a camper shell so we can take the dogs anywhere and not worry about them jumping or falling out the back. I thought I’d appeal to the masses and see if

• Is there a universal campershell that works for the Ford truck bed
• Do the different years matter (say 89’-98’ or 97’ to 2019’) as far as the size and design of the truck bed for installation porpoises of the camper shell?
• Finally would anyone have a helpful website address they could leave for good information and or products on the subject?

Thank you in advance
Some years ago I had a campershell in the rear of my Toyota pickup (before they were called Tacoma and this is how long it's been check guide here).
On the bright side, the situation remained dry (mostly) and I'd put things back there that I believed I'd needed.
On the negative side there were times when it leaked out of an air gap between cabin. The gasket was soft rubber that rubbed the paint off where it came into contact with the cab, and when I removed it there was a visible scratch. It was a challenge to reach the area near the cab because I had to climb into the truck's bed and not be able to reach across the side.
I have an F150 and have different needs as you. My F150 has no shell. I've thought about buying a hard tonneau cover but don't wish to take it off it in order to transport anything large.

Check with the dealers that sell the trucks to the little utility and locator services. I have one a ways south of me and they usually have a few sitting in the back corner. They pull them to sell just the used pickups, and the halfways decent ones are in the back to sell as extras.
