My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
OK, folks, we are now accepting photo submissions for next year's TRS Calendar (2024 cal year). I'm not going to impose a theme. Just send them in and we'll see what we get. If we get a bunch of photos, we'll vote on which 12 to use. If not, I'll use artistic license and put something together.

Here are the rules.

1. Email your full resolution image files to me at "ericsbenner{at}gmail{period}com (you know how to fix that address). Posting photos here on the site does NOT work. The site reduces the file size and I can't use them. We can also transfer files via Google Drive. But email is easier.

2. Image files must be 1600 x 1200 pixels OR LARGER. Bigger is better. Size DOES matter. That translates to 11.29" x 8,79" at 200dpi minimum. Landscape orientation works best. But I can get creative with portrait oriented images.

3. Include the word "calendar" in the subject line. I will set up my email to automatically put these in a special folder so they're easy for me to find in my email. Somebody accused me of playing favorites and ignoring his submission in a previous year. That is not true. I searched my email for hours and never saw any submission from him.

4. In the email, please include some info such as; your user name on the forum, truck info - like year, model, engine, modifications, etc. all the stuff that makes you proud of your truck and this photo. In previous years, I have had to go back and ask a bunch of people for info.

5. I will accept submissions through to Sunday, October 15. I will then get them posted and voting will be open October 23-31, if we need to do that.

6. All TRS forum members are eligible.

Helpful hints;
  • try to get your pictures on a nice day with sunshine or, if at night, make sure there is good lighting. Having the sun in the background makes the visible side of your truck a shadowy silhouette. That's difficult to correct.
  • try to get the picture in focus
  • try to make the truck fill most of the picture, but not all the way out to the edges. If I have to zoom in to make it look good, we will lose resolution and It won't be as good. But, if I can't zoom out to fit the shape of the calendar page, something may get cut off. give me a little wiggle room around the edges.
  • action shots are great
  • Your truck does not have to be "perfect". As seen in previous years, a well composed artistic picture of an imperfect truck works just as well.
  • Give me the seasons. It makes it easier if I have a photo that naturally looks like winter, spring or fall when I am deciding which truck goes in which month of the calendar.
  • We like ALL types of Rangers/RBV's - RWD, 4x4, lowered, lifted, racers, rat rod Rangers, overlanders, haulers. I will put them all up for voting.
  • You may submit more than one photo. In some cases, I might create a collage for your truck. Otherwise, I will try to choose the best of your submissions for voting.
  • Please don't inundate me with too many photos of your truck. Quality is better than quantity. Pick your best 1-5 pictures.
  • You do NOT need to edit your photos. Sometimes you end up saving the edited version too small. I can fix color and lighting within reason. I also make sure license plates are blanked out to preserve your truck's identity. Several times, I have even able to "splatter snow or mud" on the front license plate to cover it. Someone else asked me to remove a tree that was in an unfortunate place.
  • Below are a few examples of my favorites from previous years to give you ideas.
Ok, I think that's what I needed to say.

Good luck.

I've received a few calendar photo submissions. But I don't think I have 12 different trucks yet. You've got about 5 weeks left. I know you've had opportunities at Carlisle and our Kentucky adventure. I can probably fill in with pictures I've taken. But y'all may have better shots of your trucks than what I took.

5 weeks and counting

I've sent mine. The season was late spring just so you know. May to be exact haha

I've never submitted any pictures of my truck. I'm not sure why but this one is probably my favorite...

If you find it worthy and need a filler... I'll send you the original.

It should be a footnote for what NOT to do. OSHA would be all over that setup like white on rice.
That jack is just lifting the bumper back in place so the bokts could be tightened. Not lifting the truck. OSHA doesn't have much jurisdiction outside the workplace anyway.

In my defense... it was just to push up on the bumper... not lifting the truck.

You will see way worse things during trail repairs...

No doubt in my mind LOL

It was a joke ;)
BTW, what are ' bokts'. Asking for a friend.
