My plan is to fly up to Beaver Creek for the ALCAN handoff but we have international issues with passports to contend with so if the AK boys fly The Canadian has to come to us we cant drive the plane through checkpoint charlie.

Beaver creek eh? That's a decent drive but we do have some serious distance to contend with up here.

Not positive but you may still be able to get away with just having 2 forms of ID, A birth certificate and a legal Drivers licence but that may have changed since I last went.:icon_confused:

Latest as of this summer. To get into the US you need a valid passport. To get into Canada a birth certificate + driver's license would work. So in theory you could get into Canada on that but not back into the states.

If we could trust you Canadians....it wouldn't be so difficult!

Down south...all they need is a swimming suit & a compass to get into the U.S........

Cmon DFW peeps, and anybody in southern OK that wanna chime in.

Hazmat doesn't have it does he? We are having a meet in November and we're gonna get sigs from everyone there.

Because of his schedule the planned handoff to us Okies is the 24th. Right now Robert has it and is planning a handoff in waco on the 23rd

Country the 24th would be perfect for me. Work out the details and give me a call.

Its about 450 + miles from Anchorage to the border taking the Tok cut-off through Mentasta so another 150+ from Homer to Anchorage. Been on that road too many times to count. If one of us drives that trip in the winter just remember there is no help out there if you break just cold and darkness and it could be many, many hours before a rig came by. Also no cell phone service for untold miles. If we get it in jan-feb it could be down to -50 below zero ambient temp or colder too. I was raised in the bush interior and its unforgiving out there.

Maybe we should make it a kind of group thing, unless you really can fly there. Like all 3 or 4 of us go and meet, then wwe can get to know eachother and if one breaks down there is no waiting in the cold.:dunno:

If the plane things works out we may all be able to go and split fuel. I have a friend with a 170 (pic in my album) And it carries 4, but it would be better to just have 3 since it would be fully fueled and save some payload for ditchbags and guns. If its my friends Super Cub then its only 2. There may be one other but dont know his thoughts yet.
