TRS Event TRS 25th Anniversary Fall Adventure - Land Between The Lakes - September 5th – 8th, 2024

Im just hoping to have my truck fixed by the event and then decide whether i get a tent or try to sleep in the topper. Probably a tent for this event.

At this point, I'm in that boat myself. Hoping to have the truck up to par. If I succeed in that, I'll figure out if I'm bringing a tent or finding a hotel nearby.

I actually bought a new tent a few months ago with this trip in mind, never got around to using it and now it's too hot here to even try.

I've got a topper I could put on the Ranger, but I'd sooner do the rental camper thing with a teardrop. (Which I haven't ruled out either.)

Those are good options.

Move those fog lights up to the headlight position and you're ready to go.
I had a car behind me today that I think did just that. Nose was gone, and looked like a couple of fog lights where the headlights should have been. annoyingly the cops that saw it didn;t seem to care. Sure it was in the middle of the day, but you know that guy also drives it at night.

Well it’s been a while since I’ve been in this chat, hasn’t it.

Look at you all with your fancy rooftop and truck bed tents and overlanding gear.

I want a bed tent for my Ranger but I have the step side which complicates things….

So I’m bringing a regular tent.

Anyway, I have a friend who is interested in possibly going with me. He doesn’t own a ranger or is on the forum, but is a good friend of mine who knows more about camping than I do.

If he pays for the registration fee as well, is it alright for him to come along and we’ll split out the cost of the site?

come and play.

Mant people overcomplicate it. My setup is still relatively simple and varies with my needs, ambition kevel and the weather. I'm also constrained by what can reasonably be carried in a single cab short bed Ranger.

If I know I'll only be staying one night and need to get packed up and moving early the next morning, I don't set up all my stuff. If it's going to rain and I want to cook, I'll set up the gazebo.

Some people seem to think you have to have hot water, showers, kitchen sink, gourmet cook station, electricity, propane fire pit, mood lighting, special 9zone odor removing equipment, etc. Then their rig starts getting really heavy or they pull a trailer that ends up being heavy and more difficult to maneuver. It's not all necessary.

i am just happy to have air in the tires and something that keeps the bugs off of my ugly ass.

I'm trying to keep the attendance list up to date. I think it's pretty accurate currently.

Not sure how many in @bobbywalter party though.

If anyone that's coming does not see themselves or number of additional people in your party... please make a post so the list can be updated.

Thank you!

It wouldn't be the first time we've had an off brand vehicle at a meet. Bring him along. We'll let him take Tail End Charlie and eat our dust. :icon_twisted:

The KOA won't care who pays for the camp site as long as you meet the rules.

Nothing wrong with that. I'll be in the same boat if I make it.

Recently spotted a future purchase if I get back into camping. I'm not going to do the RTT thing, I have too many vehicles to attach my camping solution to one and I don't want it physically attached to my ride. Forest River recently introduced a tent on wheels. Basically a popup without all the bells and whistles. Add an AC in place of the roof vent and it would perfect for about 90 percent of my camping needs. Not worth buying if I don't start back camping though.

I'm still a definite maybe. Depends on if the truck is back together. Currently in a holding pattern for cylinder heads. If the truck is back together by the end of the month I don't see why I can't make it, that'll leave me August to break in the new engine and work out any buggs. Fortunately it appears that the worn out engine itself was the only bug from the engine swap, so I'm not expecting much to happen.

After the engine I'll still need an alignment and would like to get a proper exhaust built, but the first will be quick and the second doesn't have to happen.
